We were heavily linked to Jamie Elliott a few years ago. Listened to Graham Wright do a talk at the time and he laughed and said we had never discussed him and had not spoken to him. A week later he toured Brisbane and then re-signed with Collingwood.

Had 2 significant injuries in the last 2 years. Much better player than current form. Was the equal of Butters and Rosee a few seasons back. Great time to grab him, cost is low!

I also understand we had a good go at him last year or before his last contract renewal.

Me neither. He didn’t even think about it until Coniglio’s wedding IN THE MIDDLE OF TRADE PERIOD. Jason McCartney (GWS) calls MM, who then calls Petroro, who says Jaeger actually wants to finish his career in Perth.

So a “no-deal” with Fremantle before the trade period even started, suddenly gets legs and becomes the last minute flurry involving Meek in the last 5 minutes of the 2022 trade period.

There’s so many potential deals which haven’t even been thought of yet.

From memory it was around the time Poppy was finishing up. Would have been a great acquisition in hindsight.

I rarely comment on players here, so for one to get my attention requires great skill. But Ollie Lord impressed me greatly yesterday. He's intrigued me before, but I was waiting for him to put it together in a game, and he did it in a big way on the big stage. I loved the way he picked up the ball off the ground. His first goal was like that of a small forward, with the pickup and how he moved through the players. And again, the pickup for his second goal off the ground was sublime as well. I reckon we could use a key forward who's good at ground level. His last two goals then showed that he already has a mature body despite his age. He beat Andrews twice in one-on-one marking contests. That's no easy feat. And he also got into Andrews head. Andrews was far less aggressive aerially than he would normally be. I think he would be a good Full Forward. He doesn't seem to track the best up the ground but looks far better in the goal square. And with Lewis as our CHF, he wouldn’t need to worry about it. He's contracted until the end of 2024. I'm not sure what he's worth, but surely he's worth a look.

Duursma was pretty hopeless last night. He’s doesn’t have a clear role. Pass.

Who are we still interested in?

I wouldn’t mind us clearing some list space and having crack at a number of pacy small forwards late in draft / rookie list.

Duursma hasn't improved from his first season, no idea what people see in him. Would be playing at BoxHill.

He's been mismanaged by PAFC.

They tried to bulk him up to be an inside midfielder which took away his biggest strength which was his speed and tank.

Few years of injuries (might be due to the above) and just hasn't had any continuity since.

He's a talent but he's been handled extremely poorly by Port. He has zero confidence in his body right now - needs a new environment and a big preseason.

They have pretty much confirmed what RNL said a few weeks back . Then and even now from what they've heard .
Big play at a genuine AGrader ( not Duursma or the like ) pretty well down the path too .
They wont give me a name but happily will rule guys out .

I think people need to chill a bit . We are very proactive and even if we dont land a few we will next trade and after .
We are heavily into a few high pick trades too that arent far off .

Cant add more to that . Mckay ( Ben ) preferance is to stay in Melbourne so if he heads north of the border its purely for $$$ and we dont need someone motivated by that anyway.
Im told its still 50/50 as of early today anyway

Hope the A grader we’re after is a key forward- the only one that I can think of is that Ben King is back on…

I was told that it is a player who can play at either end so unlikely to be B King.
