This is actually a good idea though, except the team offering the money should lose their first pick if the contract is over a certain amount, and any compo picks should be in a supplementary round at the end of the first round after everyone has had their R1 picks

It's how they do it on MLB and works well. Helps prevent rich teams dominating because they know they lose out on their first pick

I completely agree with that, it should be kept along with the use of 2x firsts in 4 years without exceptions

It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Manager is using Mclure as their unofficial mouthpiece.

Helps to distance Reid from the conversation if he really doesn’t want to go there, as publicly he can say the opposite, but also throws a warning to West Coast to think carefully.

The fact that the Manager and Mclure are close and he starts coming out and saying that Reid doesn’t want to go there, would have to have West Coast nervous.
