Sorry but it was freezing outside and they were a fair way offshore. When the change came through it dropped from 26 to 13 and I was still in shorts and t-shirt.

I don't know that this makes it better. In fact I would argue it makes it worse as it suggests it's not emblematic of some short-term issues but rather a more ongoing issue.
In any case, I think the real spotlight should be on two entities here: the media and his club.
Clearly Oliver's got things going on that every footy fan who has eyeballs and enjoys the sport should be hoping he works through. Near on fifteen years ago there was another champion of the game who had issues - not drawing any parallels between their issues, for the record - and he was hounded by the media and enabled by his club, and the situation only got worse.
Let's hope media and club do better this time around and we can avoid history repeating itself.
Oliver clearly not in a good space and hasn't been for a while by the looks. The issue I have with all this, we have the media dredging up shit from 3-4 years ago, yet if he self harms, they will be the first ones to feign concern and suggest that not enough is being done to protect a vulnerable person.
