I was in the very first team (U13s) that Baulkham Hills ever fielded back in the mid 70s. We had split off from Pennant Hills and got flogged every week. From there the club started to grow and taste success (now the East Coast Eagles).

Imagine my pleasure when I visited a secluded village in the PNG highlands in 1989 to see a young kid wearing a Baulkham Hills Junior Australian Rules Football Club T-shirt. Totally bizarre and I obviously remember it to this day.
I can imagine your surprise after seeing that. It's funny you mention that because I attended a church in Port Moresby, and I was very shocked to see a young kid walk into Sunday Mass wearing the uniform of the school I attended in Melbourne. It was crazy.

At Sydney Uni we had a player in the late 80s from PNG who was studing theology, intending to return to PNG be some sort of priest.
I recall he played his junior footy at Baulkham Hills. Lovely bloke.
So not as weird as you might think.

In other news I went to the Kiss concert at Homebush last night, and during the finale, I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night, they had cannons firing out confetti, thousands per minute, so much so that I couldn't see the stage. Eventually they drifted over to me and the pieces were either red or white.
I took this as an omen, due to the long running connection between Kiss and footy of less than a week.
Funnily enough, chatting to a bloke on the train home, a Bomber up from Melbourne for the concert, he thought the same thing.
You heard it here first.

Good enough for me

Interesting from the NFNL forum, someone posting for the first time mind you, claiming Danielle Laidley will be coaching Montmorencey D1 seniors next season.

Poor bugger, pretty hard when you love your team but they constantly break your heart.
Yeah I've gotta give it to Freo fans, they're a devoted bunch. Year in year out they get good turnouts at their games. Will be worth the wait when they get their first flag. Footy games will probably be played on Mars by then so it will look cool too.

Oh I can see it now

"Freo only won the flag because the Grand Final is played on Earth and the Terra Sirenum Space Cadets had to travel! Earth bias!"
"Yeah! The EFL* only want Earther teams to succeed"
"The Space Cadets only kicked so many goals because Mars gravity is less than Earth so the ball travels further!"

*The AFL has become the SFL being "Sol Football League" named after the sun

I can think of a few players who would be locks in the Space Cadets team!

Leppistch has been an assistant coach at 4 of last 7 premiership teams. That's incredible.
What happened the other three years, piss poor.

Funnily enough, I played for Macquarie Uni in the 90s while I was studying theology. True.
