Hello Eagles fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Keys you may like to sticky this post & move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread if you have one.

As a previous poster suggested - Curtin as a Tom Stewart/Sicily type as his ceiling would be a fantastic result. Tall enough and good enough to defend but main role is to read the play and intercept, distribute, set up play, provide leadership etc.

Kind of like a McGovern/Hurn hybrid in Eagles terms.

Sign me up to that (not at the expense of Reid though).

In broad terms I think Curtin gets harshly judged on this board. I think that’s primarily a push back to the media overstating our interest in him

What nobody knows, including the media numbnuts, is where he sits on the Eagles draft board

If he is as highly rated by the club as the media would have us believe, then I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if we traded our F1 to get him should the opportunity arise

But, we don't even have a NGA spot for him.... seems to me that if we are planning on taking him then it'll be before 40.

That’s not how it works though

In the very unlikely event he gets past 40 so we can match a bid, when we do match he joins on the main list not as a Cat B rookie.

No. Would you call their JHF offer a Curtin scenario? They need an elite young mid. Curtin would be nice but our midfield is the priority, if he was an elite young mid ranked at 3-5 in the draft I have no doubt we’d trade down and get him, just like Adelaide will try and trade up to get Draper.
I meant a curtin scenario in so far as everyone is saying Adelaide is desperate for draper and will to give a bit up to get him purely because he's from sth Australia

Hodge is 100% the closest comparison for Reid.

Totally dominant junior. Can play in any 3rd and wreak havoc, leads from the front with heart on sleeve and someone the lads will want to play for.

Hodge won 4 premierships (I think)
And, like Cousins with Richmond, played a vital role in Brisbane's development. I'd be pretty happy if Reid was a leader in their mould (footy wise).

I would like to think we would be able to get someone else with Curtin if we went down that path

I know, and I’m sure there is a bit of media beat up on it but the difference between him and Curtin is that Draper is the exact player they are in need of and as far as Crows 2024 draft strategy goes this is the perfect result for them.

I’d have no issue with that if we did although it’s seems doubtful he gets that far

With our picks likely to fall at 1, then ~28,38,48 on the night another pick in the 15-35 range if we could manufacture one would be extremely handy

As for the suggestion that Fremantle trade a F1 to get Collard, these are their trades this year :

• Pick 23 (now 25) and their F2 for Port’s F1
• Schultz for pick 34 and Collingwood’s F1 (they pushed for this instead of pick 19)
• Henry and their F4 for St Kilda’s F2 and F4

The overall theme was accumulating future picks by trading out the R2 they held and prioritising a future pick from Collingwood over a 2023 pick.

With that in mind I’m curious why they would undo that clear strategy to trade back into this year’s R1 to get Collard

It's Freo?

So.. So Close now.
Get Cuz and Nic Nat to Melbourne, get the Guernsey ready.

I'd be happy with Reid (obviously) with our first and Collard with our second if he lasts that long. Can't see an interstate club taking the risk on Collard, seems the biggest flight risk in the entire draft.

Just got to get him before Freo.

Agreed, also looks like there plenty of similar sized players in the clips as him, have seen quite a few comments of "he's only been so dominant because he's so much bigger than those he lining up against", doesn't look the case though.

He certainly means business when he's out there. Loves the fend offs, and has the power/speed combo to make it effective. Will be a great sight on Optus in the No 9.

This.

The dee's 6 + 11 + f1 and crows two firsts + f1 is complete fantasy.

Take the bias out.

It would take more than a F1st to get three back.

Either a 2nd rounder is added. Or two 3rds.

A trade that esentially nets two 1sts and we upgrade our 2nd into the into 1st round. Which is becoming more valuable in these compromised times.

By upgrading any 2nd into the 1st round you protect your position from band 2 compo picks and end of 1st round priority picks.

Without the marking ability...

Without the marking ability...

Yeah this is the bit that confuses me (noting I haven’t watched highlights etc), people around here talk about an elite kicking defender (possible mid) who needs to work on his intercept and marking - then name 2 defenders as comparison who are elite interceptors and elite marks.

Maybe Curtin is a hard one to get a similar current or ex player comparison for, or maybe people don’t want to spell Lukosius?

That DH needs to always be referred to as "Splinters".

Or Timber Dick

Either or. Best of luck Eagles people and look forward to the draft being over. Take Reid, back yourselves in. And maybe we can both start to climb the ladder again.

I doubt Reid would pull a Jason Horne Fabian Francis, seems to have some class about him
