Some of the questions asked are just dumb. like "do you think you'd ever go back to rugby?"
The kid has literally just been drafted to a AFL club. The F%$& are you thinking?

Just watched it and yeah, sometimes you don't have to ask a question if it's a braindead one like that...

Listening to some of the other questions from the draftee pressers, they've been equally as bad... Couple of new reporters perhaps!

Specially from that one women she’s asked some absolute doozy questions. She asked if the club had put Gross through any media training yet, like cmon the kids been in Perth for about 5minutes.

Probably got told by WCE media department to tone it down after asking for Malakai's 10-point plan on improving indigenous junior pathways to increase the level of talent at AFL level.

I think it's worth remembering that these people are literally asking questions just to write their report later

"Do you think you will ever go back to rugby" is just designed to get more quotes on his rugby background and write about how he's committed to AFL

they're all just quote farming at these things, only the nuffies like us actually watch for real insight

Gee he speaks so well, I wasn't expecting that in his first presser, both articulate, confident and self assured.

Loved coaching kids like him, take no prisoners attitude, hit em hard when ever you can and so focused on the task that they are given.

Got the distinct feeling that this kid won't take a backward step when in the heat of battle.

I very much like the cut of his jib.

I don't agree totally with your premies, but I will say this , that strength and toughness in a percentage of the players, on a list, gives much greater scope for super skilled players to operate effectively in.

Now thats the polite version.

My take, if I may.

We have ( and have had ), way too many soft ****, nice boys on our list ...... and thats not a balanced list IMO.

In MOST of our Premiership sides, (except 2018 - Simpson and RO'B never rated it) we have had a couple of hard arsed players in all the teams:

1992: Worsfold, Brennan, Mainwaring, Lewis, Wilson, Evans.
1994: Ditto
2006: Waters, Stenglein, Chick, Hunter, Glass, Kerr, R Jones.

If you want to go deep into September, a side needs a certain hard edge component to it ...... and of late, thats an attribute thats been sadly overlooked at the drafting table.

I for one am rapt that under a new: CEO, Coach and Recruiting Manager, that, that disturbing recent trend has now stopped.

A balance list needs:

Smalls and Talls.
Defensive and Attacking players.
Stars and Supportive Role Players.
Super Skilled Players and Hard Nuts.

We haven't had that balance right for many years now and our ladder position and win loss ratio, show it.
You’ve got a quality footy brain👍

Has the Hurn type attitude where he sounds and acts way more mature than his age. AND likes having a camp and a fish so he's gonna fit in quite well at the Cripps household. I hope this bloke makes a career for himself cos he sounds like a real goer.

Interesting that he said he wanted to come to WCE before the draft.

A club with a lot of spots up for grabs and a new coach so most around his age profile will start on equal footing. Sounds like a dream scenario for a late round draft pick.
