In fairness to Ashleigh Nelson she’s usually fairly decent but in those pressers (particularly the ones yesterday) it didn’t sound like there were many journalists there. So she was probably stretching a bit to ask questions so the young guys were at least getting asked something whilst not asking each lad the same questions as the others

Tbh I don’t think some of those questions were asked by Ash , sounds like someone new I’ve never heard before in the pressers.

You can even see in the Gross interview pretty sure ash is directly in front of him and the other women is to the left.

I dont know what it is, but feel very confident with this group. I have a funny feeling in my ball bags this will end up our greatest draft this century

It's pretty hard to top 2010. Gaff, Darling, Slyce & Gov. Only 8AA jumpers in there, 1 player best in league in his position over an extended period, another close to it, 500+ goals from Darling and we don't win the 18' grand final without Slyce.

2001 also not only gave us Judd but also Hansen, Seaby, Lynch and to a lesser extent Sampi.

06,08 and 23 looking good so far (Maric, Reid, Reid, Johnston, Hall)

Love it, can't wait to see him play. All going well he should get a crack at a pre-season game at least.
Head down bum up, don't like to muck around, want to play a game as soon as possible. Grew up around professional sports so knows what it takes.
We are definitely not going to be a team that get's pushed around anymore. If a Hewett get's sh1t mixed be a sh1t bloke there will now be one hell of a sh1t fight.

Not too sure if he realizes how far away the Kimberley actually is though 🤣🤣

I'm guessing the lady with the questions is Eliza Reily.

WA based journo flog who writes for The West.
Whoever it was, they didn’t know what the **** they were talking about because I’ve seen or heard her ask a few questions on some of the other new draftee interviews as well and every question she asked is just idiotic.

Good to see some positivity and I share your enthusiasm (with all due respect I'll circumnavigate the ballbag dept). I reckon there'll be a growing wave of enthusiasm and engagement with the team, coach and club as preseason progresses.
To avoid falling into the excited FB fanboi moshpit, it's all still an unknown quantity, but jeez when you look at our best 23 and Wafl best side (depth), it's hard not to feel a tingling sensation downstairs...

Still so many unknowns with our list.
Is Hewett completely over his foot injury?
Will Hall make it as a starting inside mid?
Will Reid stay past his current contract?
Can Bo Allan become a midfielder at AFL level?
Also no certainty that the other draftees will definitely make it, but they look hopeful for now.
Hopefully most of these questions will be answered in season 2025.

Inmho Hall is already covered, great if he makes it, depth otherwise.
Hewett appears fit and up to speed, early days, a possibility he could break down again.
Reid I believe is a lock, he's not going anywhere in a more solid team at a turning point.
Bo seems slotted as a HB/Mid, no apparent reason why he can't progress to Mid?
It's all hopeful of course, until it's not...

I see Harley extending in 2026. There's little reason for him to extend before then.

If all goes well, we likely won't know if Allan will make is as a midfielder for at least a couple of years. There's no need to rush him into either the AFL team or the midfield. He'll have the luxury of time to develop that the likes of Ginbey and Chesser didn't have.

I think it's worth remembering that these people are literally asking questions just to write their report later

"Do you think you will ever go back to rugby" is just designed to get more quotes on his rugby background and write about how he's committed to AFL

they're all just quote farming at these things, only the nuffies like us actually watch for real insight

Yeah, they are just doing their job. Someone has to ask him about his rugby league aspirations given his background. It's not newsworthy that he said no, but is it newsworthy if he said yes? Of course it is, and that's why you ask.

Just like it is a forward's job to take an impossible shot from the boundary - not for the nine times it misses, but for the one time it works.
