"Also in the mix for Essendon at 9". Mich0 this is the point I was making about 'reaching' – the market and draft order dictates the player's value, not phantom drafts from journos. Obviously rated fairly highly as Essendon and Adelaide are linked to him with their first picks, too. Had we not made the trade for 11*, good chance he wouldn't have been on the board come our pick.

Hope they take him at 9 but I think there is next to no chance of that happening.

Scott just came out on SEN and said they were looking at Caddy/O Sullivan and Leake for there pick.

Absolutely zero mention of Tholstrupp.

It’s almost worth hoping we trade 6 and 11 for pick 5 and then take Sanders.

Can’t buy entertainment like that

Why though? Because some journalists had him going a few picks later? Offers some more x-factor in our forward line, can't see how that's a particularly bad thing.

There's no real standout likely to be at #11* – if Leake somehow made it through, sure, but Tholstrup is as good (or better) of an option as the likes of Wilson, DeMattia, Edwards etc. Caddy and O'Sullivan very unlikely to make it to our second.

Edit: if Ess did pick him at 9*, then one of Caddy/O'Sullivan/Leake would make it through, so I get that. Just don't really understand the disdain for Tholstrup considering who's likely to be available at that pick.

We don’t need more mid-sized forwards. We already have Smith, Melksham, McAdam, Fritsch, Petracca.

Whose spot in the team would he take?

I am already picturing this bloke trying to take on 3 tacklers to kick Hail Mary goals from a pack only for it to come off the side of the boot, fly 30m high in the air and out on the foul like Zurhaar and Petracca do 5 times a match.

Melksham probably has five games at best left in his career. Smith has played over 10 games once in his career and has a lingering suspension (plus is a completely different player).

Could easily roll out a team each week that includes Petty, JVR, Pickett, Trac, McAdam, ANB, Tholstrup, Fritsch and maybe Chandler, considering that Trac will play a good chunk in the middle (as will Koz, ideally). They're all very different players.

Firstly, Smith might not even be able to play next year, Melksham will miss most of the year, McAdam and Fritsch are completely different types, Petracca playing more midfield time isn't exactly a loss.

Secondly, Tholstrup is a noted score involvement player who can deliver well inside 50. I'm going to assume just by the pure weight of numbers of your posts here that you actually watched us play a couple of times this year yeah? Don't think I need to expand on that.

I am not completely against him but if Essendon take him at 9 it will likely push a player I prefer (Caddy/Leake) out to our pick potentially.
That's fair. Just asking that you don't melt too hard if the choice is between Tholstrup, Wilson, Edwards and DeMattia etc, as his traits probably make him the best option of that bunch for us, and we wouldn't be passing up on a stand-out option.

I know you're wanting to bolster our midfield depth, and he definitely has the scope to make that shift later on. Think of him a bit like Trac-lite when he came into the league (with less midfield exposure to-date).

Big kid with good endurance (top 10 in the 2km at the combine, second in agility test), so chance that he impacts early, too.

I've been keen on Tholstrup for weeks as evident by my votes in the pick #11 thread. Knew he'd be a gun by his eccentric name
He's definitely your boy! By being the first to vote for him, you ultimately take responsibility for his entire career.

The only thing I don't really like about Tholstrup is that you just know the club's socials are going to roll out 'Kolt Hero' as soon as they get the chance, perhaps even tonight.

The bar for cult hero seems very low these days.
Kid has a mullet and some funky sunnies? What a loose unit!

Pardon the intrusion. Could you folks see your club agreeing to 6 + 11 for 3 and a third rounder?
Would 100% do for McKercher - probably rather a second back if it was for Duursma (though I could be convinced).
