What other weapon does he have?
Seeing him in person, he presents quite tall and definitely strong - but Jesus Christ does he get thrown of the ball with ease.

He can go in and get the pill, like Wphil? But can he kick it as well? Is he a better burst player?
I can see him doing a tagging role at times. Fit with a good footy IQ

reminds me a bit of Benny Jacobs

Lazzaro is unlikely to be an A grader, but most good sides have solid role players on the list between 23 and 30; Charlie could easily be that for us as we work up the ladder

A 23-30 role player in a shit side becomes a 10-15 player in a great side. Charlie will make a lot eat pie this year

I've seen enough skilled players wasted away bc they're simply not motivated nor full of effort.

Laz has
100% motivation
100% program commitment and growth
50% skill

he MUST be given a chance to prove he's improved the third point, otherwise what's the point at all
I’d agree with almost all of what you’ve said there except I genuinely disagree with your assessment of skill levels.

18 months ago he got the fumbles, deer in headlights kind of stuff and you could see his confidence had been sucked right out of him.

Go back to when we first drafted him and I was watching pre-season training, I saw a highly professional kid who was absolutely nailing 30 metre passes, consistently off BOTH feet during drills. Obviously that’s not the heat and pressure of an AFL game however the kid knows how to kick. He has the skills. Not Sheezel or Thomas skills but better than many. I’d be more inclined to give him a 75-80% in regards to skill, in the context of the position he plays. He has his confidence back.

And we both know that Lazz wakes up every day with an absolute focus on improving his game and getting better.

I’m absolutely certain he’ll get his chance this year.

Charlie always looks good, but seems to tighten up when under pressure.
He just needs to get some confidence in the big time and then we sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
He has defensive pressure which is a string that not many of our midfielders really have. People round here don’t believe he can cut the mustard.. I think he has a role in the team.

Good coaching decision to keep him around for the first two points.

Raises the bar for those around him for training standards - wish to kid all the luck in the world. Deserves it.

Laz reminds me a bit of the days of the split opinions on Ed Lower.

This board was split very much between, can be better than a solid AFL player, maybe even a 150+ game AFL player.

The other side was: genuine VFL player list clogger.

Has the exceptional knack of never being quite close enough to tackle, but looks like he’s trying his butt off.

Ed was done in by injuries though. Charlie looks to be more durable

Lazzaro very much already a “genuine VFL player list clogger.”

Far out that’s pretty hard criticism of a 21 year old kid who from all accounts is giving his all. Lighten up
