I make it7 players who didn't play in the prelim that will line up tomorrow night;

Kemp
Young
Williams
Cuningham
Owies
Fantasia
Carroll

Ones a gun coming back from injury, one newbie, Carroll a still young player looking to make his mark, Young kind of out of necessity and the three players who were omitted from the winning Melbourne team who hopefully all have a point to prove.

Lots of run. Our only ‘lumbering’ tall is Young. Need Fantasia and Fogarty to chip in on the scoreboard - they’ve got Motlop and Durdin pressuring them so there’s the incentive to perform.

Martin/Silvagni would be great in the forward line, but hopefully Kennedy can play that high half-forward role.

I reckon Williams will play a blinder this week - he’ll be running on pure excitement (he’ll be a sore boy for round two though).

Tough ask first up, but plenty of new faces and new opportunities.

I do laugh at our supposed lack of pace on ball. Surely no one thinks that Neill, Dunkley, Berry and McCluggage are likely to win any Stawell gifts do they. Good footballers though as are Cripps, Hewitt, Cerra and Kennedy.

I figure that they send Dunkley to Cripps and we send Hewett to Neill - not to tag but to be accountable for them.

If we can break even in the ruck and put enough pressure on the ball to force them to kick into their forwardline in a scramble way then we are right in it.

But please don't let Coleman and Big O dominate against us (fortunately McKenna is not playing). We've had 6 months to formulate a plan for that.
Neale isn’t quick?

Neale isn’t quick?

Not outrageously quick. He's much quicker of mind than he is foot which is why he's such a force

Otherwise I'd put him as "quick enough" where it's not a strength but not a liability.

I didn’t….what did I miss ?

Has a couple of clear deficiencies in his game that are prohibitive of selecting him for senior football.

Needs to keep working hard and his time will come.

Spots won't and can't be gifted.

He will get there.

Binns not only makes more sense to play with his leg speed, endurance, smarts and FORM!
Carroll and Owies selected in front of Binns....pffft. WTF does he have to do get a game???
Rookie wins B&F reserves, elite repeat runner SW18 out and let's put average speed and endurance to replace him.. Looks like crazy Vossy is back!
Why would a winger replace Walsh?

Great selections. It is selected to give us a chance to score. Kennedy is the best fit medium fwd. Williams huge in. Owies, again, for this game could be good for a couple. Carrol gives us a bit more punch from stoppage. I would roll the dice and play carroll in the 22 to give us more run and put fog as sub but I think it will be the other way round.

From the data I can find Jack Newnes was considerably faster recording a top speed of 33.4 in 2020 compared to Neale's 32.
I’ve kind of stopped looking at the Telstra tracker ever since that time Ben Long’s average speed was well above Usain Bolt’s top speed
