Personally I think we should be using our first rounder this year to try and trade for a 50-100~ game ready-made talented young KPD. We need it.

We havent replaced him.

He is still on the list on the club website, and still on the list on Footywire, which is very accurate.

Id imagine North will be compensated by way of a trade. Is that everyones view?

Jones had spent 6 years on Carlton's list and yet moved as an unrestricted free agent netting Carlton a third round pick.

That was due to the nature of his forced departure from the comp for a year. Realistically we probably would have asked for a late 1st rounder/early 2nd for Jones at the time. He was playing outstanding footy and still is.

I think it's too early to do that and I don't see anybody that warrants pick 2-4 in a trade that's a young 50-100 game kpd of potential AA quality. I don't think Sam Taylor types are coming to us on the bottom. We'll see when Logue gets back but we definitely need both ends via trade and/or draft in terms of depth but it may be key forward that is actually the more urgent need funnily enough.

If the strategy was to bring in a 50-100 gamer kpd or kpf we could either:
a) Trade the 2nd rounder straight up
b) Split the 2nd rounder into two later 2nds and use one of them to target someone
c) Split the 1st rounder for a top 8 and late 1st. Use the late 1st to target somebody. Might depend where the pick sits.
d) Trade a young player like Phillips/Ford/Lazzaro with possible picks involved
e) Use the Zurhaar compensation or pick traded if he leaves
f) Trade the 3rd rounder or 4th rounder

There's a couple of unrestricted free agent options like Marchbank, McDonald, Tomlinson, Battle, Borlase and Melican as well.
The market looks a little thin though and there will be other teams (Hawks, Bombers etc.) looking for the same players as well.

A competitive beast at CHF who can clunk a grab, crash a pack and take a turn in the ruck.

A zippy small forward who can apply pressure and snag a goal a game.

A big bodied defensive minded mid.

Key backs look ok. Logue, Comben, K Dawson, W Dawson. Maybe a competent back up.

I do remember Dermie saying about Sanders that "the kid thinks he's pretty good" when he was linked to us pre-draft.
I did think it was interesting at the time. Perhaps this was what he'd heard about him as a junior.
