Just watched the Eagles game; my lord, Harley Reid is insanely good already in what his sixth game. Already doing things seasoned 100 gamers can only dream.

It’s a tough one, you always want to win like we did in the final round of 98 in Andy Bews last game which cost us a priority pick, but it was important for our culture and we resurged to finals in 99 but I can also see why North fans are ruing winning that last game of last year costing them this very rare kid that looks generational.

Eagles did the same thing the round before though so it all kind of evens out in the end. If both teams had have ranked the last few games of the season it would’ve been a horrible look.

I’m genuinely all for ginnivan being umpiresd out of the game. Either play better or get delisted.

Him going back to Hawthorn benefits all parties. He only played 1 good game for us that I can think of which was against West Coast. He didn't fit well with us, it happens. Better to let him go then keep him for another 2-3 years if his heart wasn't in it up here.

For what it's worth also I'm one of the (seemingly very) few who don't give a stuff how many times they call for a review. If it means they get the decision right and we don't end up with an Adelaide v Sydney situation last year, they can review every single decision for all I care.

Seems bizarre how many media experts (including former players) seem to get so worked up about this when there are so many other more pressing issues in the game, which I've touched on in previous pages here.

In any event, all going well we'll get the chips in the balls next year, and hopefully this becomes another component in the game's umpiring arsenal going forward.
