Love this thou

NFL Vice President of Football Operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension and wrote in a letter: “During your game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 1, with 4:20 remaining in the second quarter, you were involved in a play that the League considers unacceptable and a serious violation of the playing rules. Video shows you striking the head/neck area of Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence after he clearly goes down in a feet-first slide...You led with your forearm and helmet and delivered a forceful blow to the head/neck area of your opponent when you had time and space to avoid such contact. After the illegal hit, you proceeded to engage in a brawl, which you escalated when you pulled an opponent down to the ground by his facemask. After the referee announced that you were disqualified for the hit and your unsportsmanlike acts, you removed your helmet and reengaged with your opponent while walking down and across the field, which started another physical confrontation near the end zone. Your lack of sportsmanship and respect for the game of football and all those who play, coach, and enjoy watching it, is troubling and does not reflect the core values of the NFL…Your continued disregard for NFL playing rules puts the health and safety of both you and your opponents in jeopardy and will not be tolerated.”

Still no post-game explanation by the officials on the illegal shift vs false start penalty in the Raiders-Chiefs game?

Chiefs survive Raiders' final drive on a clunky fumble

With 15-seconds remaining in the 4Q and the Raiders driving for a game winning FG, center Jackson Powers-Johnson inexplicably snapped the ball before QB Aidan O'Connell was ready for it and before the offense had completely set. While the ball was loose, both DJ Jerod Phillips and LJ Brian Perry threw flags. As KC recovered the loose ball, Perry ran in, signaling to "kill the clock" and giving a preliminary false start penalty. After a lengthy discussion, referee Clay Martin announced a penalty for an illegal shift, which is a live ball foul, allowing the Chiefs to decline it and take over possession and run out the clock.

The confusion on this game deciding play came from the fact that in the NFL, any illegal shift inside the final two minutes converts to a false start, but ONLY if the clock in running. Because the clock was stopped on this play, the illegal shift wouldn't convert to a false start and remained a live ball foul. Also, even though Perry was coming in, killing the clock, it does not appear he actually blew his whistle until after the Chiefs recovered the ball and even if he blew his whistle before that recovery, by rule, the Chiefs could still recover the ball and keep possession. In the end, the crew properly called this play correctly, even though it was clunky and confused all parties involved.

Hes right though, I still say Beckham's on Josh Norman was far worse/deliberate/dangerous than this and what did he get ? A fine and thats it? If a star player did what Al Shaair did they wouldnt have suspended him.

I've had an epiphany...the NFL should just eliminate tackling of QBs outside the pocket/beyond the line of scrimmage.

Instead, implement flag football rules...no more sliding, sneaking extra yards along the sideline or late hits. Instead of tackling, just grab the flag and the runner is stopped.

Sounds stupid but the rules interpretation actually plays softer today.

Outside of Thursday game, Seattle Arizona and Chiefs Chargers this weeks games are shit.

If I had to guess 5am broadcast games they would be Atlanta at Minnesota and Carolina at Eagles both espn, Browns at Steelers 7mate. Surely espn or 7mate will show Cards Seahawks

Flipside, if he'd done it to Mahomes they'd have executed him on the spot.

True also, ive got no issue with the suspension, more so the NFL picking and choosing when to give one. Outside gambling and performance enhancing drugs (these are mostly slaps on the wrists even for guys who have been caught before) they are rarely given out.

Just read this again.

Who cares about the rule interpretation of false starts/illegal shifts. The initial call was a false start...it was actually the officials who did a reverse interpretation of the ruling to make a play live despite running on the field themselves to blow it dead.

Absolutely.

We don't care what they should have done. Having called it, and whistled the play dead, they've got no right to freelance to more favourable calls for the golden children.

When i saw the play myself, it looked like an illegal shift from the WR on the sideline. I do believe it was a flag thrown for an illegal shift and he mistakenly thought he could stop the play and attribute it as a false start, but the head judge corrected him that because the clock was already stopped from the previous play and under 2 mins it couldnt be converted to a false start.

However, its true that the Chiefs always seem to benefit from these ticky tacky situations and sometimes downright help from the officials.
