If anyone's into fantasy football (there's not many options at the moment for A-League!) there's AA-League ('Artificial' A-League) which has online auctions for the first time this season.
It's a goals and clean sheets based fantasy game with live scoring.

I am writing from Munich, was in Kaiserslautern at the Japan match.
Let me tell you all that winning on Monday was bigger than winning ten cricket, rugby and League world cups put together.
People in the street say 'Australia!' when you walk past them wearing an oz shirt, the other...
Of course I've read it, the whole silly (Victorian) thing!!
There's your explanation.
Why was he using 'soccer'?
Because he was in AUSTRALIA. He knows thats the tradition here, and he's well educated, so he was obviously trying to be 'locally accurate'.
You'll find most Germans are the...
Thanks. You've simply proven my point.
Association Football is the only sport whose 'derogatory name' was forced upon it as an 'official name'.
As I've pointed out before, what the majority (i.e. > 50%) of people call something at home and what that thing is officially called are often...
Yeah right... an Englishman says to his mate "Did you watch the soccer last night?" or "[Team X] are playing a high standard of soccer this season" .... I can just hear it now.
Exactly.
Which is why it is an over-reaction to get worried about Association Football officially changing to its proper name.
Don't you get it?
It isn't supposed to make people on the street change their language. Many people will always call it 'soccer' in their home or workplace.
Its...
ermmmm... you sure about that??
All the people I know, including myself, friends, family etc who love the idea of calling all sports by their real name (including Association Football) are all at least 3rd or 4th generation Aussies.
Its actually the "Joe Simunic" types who are the ones...
....ermmm.. are you serious?
Lesson #1:
Here are the names of some leagues you may like to acquaint yourself with:
J-League (Japan)
K-League (Korea)
M-League (Malaysia)
S-League (Singapore)
V-League (Vietnam)
Q-League (Qatar)
... and possibly more....
From earlier in this thread:
Your predictions are becoming more true by the day!
Only you could have foreseen the failure of the A-League!
Everyone said you were a complete tosser.... a fool ... a 'spazzer' .... some moron from a dodgy suburb in Melbourne.... but I digress. You saw...
I would hope that if the minor premiers win the Final as well, second on the table would take the second spot. This is preferable as the Final could lose a bit of meaning if the loser is going to qualify for Asia anyway.
Though there are complications regarding the timing of the end of the...
I've done that for just the same reason.
But it didn't always work- Once I tried to get in with the Feyenoord supporters section when they were away to Bayern in the Champions Lge a few years ago. I hung around the stadium with them for 2 hours.... only to find out that 'away' entry was...
I know Liverpool are building a new one but which one is Ashburton Grove? Also do you have any capacity figures for the new stadia? cheers
Yeah i heard Napoli sell 32,000 season tickets even in Serie C. And when they were higher in the league they get 120,000 applications for season tickets...
Interesting, thanks for that.
It just goes to show how the Italian support drops off after the top level.... everyone from Italy I've ever met supports Juve, Milan or Inter.
Though maybe thats the norm in Europe and England is the exception... getting 4.5k in division four is pretty healthy.
You gotta be joking, mate....
These d**kheads would be bored out of their skulls watching a team that doesn't represent a country on the other side of the world.
Sydney FC will mean nothing to these cavemen, and that's a great thing.
Sydney FC.
They are the closest to me, but also, as somebody said recently, they are one of the clubs (along with Ad Utd) without a dorky name.
(OK, 'Glory' is acceptable coz they are established and are a pretty good club, and they were formed in an environment where there were still...
You're too right. Worst case scenario: we end up like the USA where each capital city has five teams, one for each sport, each totally indistinguishable from the other: Sydney Swans, Sydney Kings, Sydney Roosters, Sydney..Vikings and Sydney ...Broncos?
So much for each sport having its own...
I agree, that's an absolutely TERRIBLE name....
Its like "What's the most original most football-sounding name thats never ever been used before by any other team? ... the KNIGHTS! Of course!"
:(
The Glory changing their name... would have to be one of the dumbest suggestions in history. The only good thing about the old NSL was Perth Glory, they're the only established club with an actual 'branding'... why throw away that?
Exactly. Football is the most individually and culturally expressive game in the world. If any other sport was as popular worldwide, I daresay the difference in playing styles between countries would not be as marked as in football.
Therefore, you are right... Aussies DO NOT generally roll...
