Port are well within their rights to ask for a kings ransom for Houston. He's contracted and has openly said that he's happy to stay.
We don't have leverage, therefore we shouldn't entertain the prospect given the high price.
I wouldn't say we're asleep at the wheel... more like we're waiting for the first domino to fall.
From what I've seen, there's lots of moving parts that involve specific events to occur before we can act.
Who knows what we could gain by biding our time?
I'm not seeing it that way. I see a young player who lost continuity with his body and therefore lost confidence.
He kicked 24 goals from 21 games as a 19 year old last season so I see an AFL quality player there.
In saying that, this pre-season is massive for him. If he can get his body right...
I think you're looking at this with rose coloured glasses.
What was the excuse for the Adelaide game when we had a relatively low injury list?
Why did we allow Daicos to run through in the last minute to kick the match winner?
Where was our plan B when GWS had come back from 39 points down to...
I get it but we're talking 49 out of our 327 goals for the season.
Gut feel is that Kemp/JSOS will be a floating third tall to effectively takes Owies role (he's small in stature but plays the same as a third tall).
I think Lij takes over Kennedys role, which he played to some effect...
Why? He'll be 28 early next year, plays a role that we have a surplus in and won't ever be worth more on the market than he is right now.
If we want to be able to afford A grade quality we need to be prepared to move on B graders.
Great point about keeping the main group together. See groups like Richmond and Geelong who stuttered around the finals for years only for that same core group of players to pull it together and create dynasties.
Where is our plan b? What do we do to get our players up for a sustained period. That is up to the coach and if you can’t do it you’re not fit for the job.
The notion of "fighting for finals survival" is more or less arbitrary when there's 1 1/2 games separating 2nd and 9th. In essence everyone bar Sydney and the bottom 5 are fighting for finals survival.
The Giants had been beaten by Adelaide and trailed us by 39 when they beat us and the Dogs had been belted by Port when they beat us.
Who's to say we can't turn it around quickly as well? Each week a new team is being written off and then weeks later they're being touted as a premiership...
TDK adds another dimension at ground level but pitto gives our mids much better service. It’s an absolute luxury having both players at our arsenal and softens the blow of losing TDK.
At the ground on Sunday, I noticed him heavily favouring a left knee when one of our boys was having a set shot in the 3rd quarter. Didn’t look good :/
5 of the 9 finals were decided by 7 points or fewer.
3 of the other 4 were by fewer than 4 goals.
I honestly believe we were a preliminary final home ground advantage away from a premiership last year, such was our momentum.
Yeah, I doubt 43 was referring to a KPF.
Looking through each lists small forwards I can only see Charlie Cameron and a young player named Charlie Clarke for the bulldogs? Clarke has kicked 16 goals in 11 VFL matches whilst averaging 13.6 possession. Can't say I've seen him play though.
We're in an interesting position right now. We've managed to maintain 2nd on the ladder, however we've lost our breathing room.
This is purely a guess but I get the impression that we're going through a rigorous training load at the moment which is affecting our ability to run and carry. It...
