As long as you can update us on how their shoulders are looking and if they are having good time.
This early in preseason a general assessment of the vibe is great. I'm not ready to think seriously about us and football or I'll trick myself into thinking we are flag favourites before we even...
Maybe they play on combining 5 key forwards into one ala Voltron?
Seems like a scattergun approach and just hoping one sticks at this stage.
Too beholden to an out dated game play. Really wish we had just gone the dynamic forward mix of JVR with 2-3 mediums and 2-3 smalls and a swingman type...
Not enough. You would need to find a pick in the 15-20 range to offer.
It sounds like a lot (and it is) but that is the level of drop off from the top tier pick to second rung.
Plus they repeatedly say that he will be a slower burn, take more time, about the potential etc.
We need some midfield impact now, not some guys who is going to develop behind the scenes with a few Camo appearances in the backline.
Langford's 20m was slow but doesn't look it in his highlights as he is always in motion around stoppages ala Cripps/Bont who both often explode out of a stoppage looking quicker than they are. Also has a nice little side step like Pendles, uses the long arms to keep ball out of the tackle, good...
This is where I'm at. If we get one of the speedy/agile mids at 5 I can pretty much relax and roll with whatever we do with 9.
If we go slow or left field bolter at 5 then what we do at 9 becomes really important and could be meltdown material.
Oh my... FOS for sure.
Could you imagine a world where saints take Armstrong (KPF) leaving us with Langford - strong marking, goal kicking mid? Is this McCartin and Trac 2.0? (Poor man's version obviously).
There is just one guy we want. There will be a group broken into tiers and some of them would be like splitting hairs which one to take.
WC are definately not the only one with anything to offer but if they have someone in their group available at 9 that is a cut above their other options but...
I think there are a couple of guys at 5 that could be stars, so I wouldn't.
I would be open to splitting 9. Quite possible that a couple of guys we really like don't make it and then left with a group that we like but confident atleast 1 or more are still going to be there further back.
Teams...
If we rate a player(s) as best for our pick 9 but believe we can get them at a later pick then why wouldn't you trade back? There are players in the draft that 1 team has as top 10 but another club wouldn't even take top 20.
We traded out a fortune to get into the round as we knew it was worth...
Yeah I've watched him a few times on tv and live once. Agree that I haven't seen anything to hang your hat on to say he will make it but wasn't watching him specifically either.
I do find it hard to judge tall forwards in the VFL - just general delivery and often blustery or wet conditions...
But were they trying to break into an elite tall forward line full of defenders???
Hard when the coach has a core group of favourites with unshakeable faith... And stubborness...
I agree. 2 years for a KPF who isn't naturally big/strong isn't a huge concern especially when he has had a forward line clogged up with a heap of tall AFL veterans. Was disappointed he didn't get a game or two late.
If he doesn't crack AFL next year I will start getting concerned (injuries aside).
Probably talking pick 11 or 12 after bids. I really like him but maybe still a touch early for mine.
Smilie looked like a potential No1 for first 1/3 to 1/2 of season before struggling a bit. Hotton look electric in some early games but due to injury we don't really have a big enough sample...
We didn't trade up to pick 9. We traded into this draft. Big difference. It would be perfectly reasonable to trade back for the right offer.
Pick 9 is right around that mark where a player club X loves is still there but won't be by their pick i.e.
GWS with pick 15,16,21.
Tigers with there...
Fully agree. Agility, balance and fast feet, quick decision maker, great awareness and neat by hand and foot.
He was given feedback mid year that he was accumulating a lot of possessions without enough damage and he became more damaging in back half of year, getting forward more, kicking and...
The only thing crazier to me then this kid potentially sliding to our pick is the prospect that we might then pick someone else...
Reminds me more of Zak Butters than Zak Butters did in his draft year!
I reckon there would be a bunch of head fakes and posturing going on behind the scenes. Cal usually has pretty good insight on who clubs are going to pick - he has most of the first round worked out by now most years but struggling this time.
He said on gettable that the evenness combined with...
