I've got my head around this trade now. Don't love it, but have reached the acceptance stage.
What I can't get my head around, is his name. I keep calling him Matlock. Even told my wife we've drafted a kid called Matlock.......no wonder she gave me a blank look.
If my memory is correct, and I'd have to search back 250 pages, but I think you had Finn O'Sullivan top of your rankings at one stage, so this seems like a good move, even though I was on the Tauru train.
Would you trade our future first back in? Not so much for pick number, but who would you...
Looks great and will be purchasing one, however, I just wish the Mazda & AFL logo's weren't over the white V. I dunno, a smaller logo, maybe. Just not a fan of advertising on jumpers. And I know it was North that started the whole thing in the VFL. The monogram is grouse too.
At least with that, it gives us the option to move up a little if someone we really rate drops to pick 14 or 15 maybe. Someone may swap an early to mid teens pick for those two slightly later picks.
I was in favour of holding pick two. But having traded out the rest of our picks, think we have to try and split it now. Especially as I want us to pick Tauru and Berry. To do that will need 6 & 11. Doubt Berry lasts to 18.
This is why I don't usually watch draft highlights until we pick our...
Jarrad Waite. Couldn't stand him at Carlton. Thought he was full of himself and had that arrogant way he walked. Plus he always left his best for when he played us.
Then he came to North and quickly became my favourite player. I miss Waite and watching him play. Just wish he had crossed over...
We're due for one of these gambles to pay off. Seems a good kid so hope it works out for him and us. There's certainly a spot up for grabs, so hope he takes it with both hands
I don't pretend to know anything about how this works, but I'd trade next year's 2nd & 3rd for Parker & our priority pick (19 or whatever it is) back. It is ours after all, and we're doing them a favour for next year. Seems reasonable to me.
If you had the option, would you hold pick 2 or split for 6 & 13 for eg? Is the gap between that top tier and second tier significant?
Myself, my preference is to keep pick 2 and pick the best talent, even if it's another midfielder. If we could get next year's first into this draft, would love...
I hope we can find a way to draft him. With he and Duursma in the same team, we'll have a mortgage on mark of the year for the next ten years. One at either end or both up forward is an exciting prospect.
I follow any team that loses habitually and embraces mediocrity. Sheffield Wednesday, England in anything, Victoria in anything. Only team that bucks the trend are the Melbourne Storm.
I don't usually get too attached to draftees pre draft, but I really want us to draft Tauru. Would be exciting having he and Duursma at each end of the ground.
Mentioned earlier, his marking, versatility and courage remind me of Adam Hunter from the Eagles. Like him, reckon Tauru could play...
He actually reminds me a bit of Adam Hunter who played for the Eagles 15 years or so ago. Maybe because he used to get swung forward whenever they needed something up there, but was an excellent defender too.
I haven't watched a lot of these videos, but is he that far behind the top rated mids? If our picks stay as they are, would we be better off with the highest rated Key Forward at our first and this kid with our second, rather than the other way round. He looks a good prospect for sure...
Incredible story. We can't afford to lose any North supporters unnecessarily, so glad you are here to tell the tale. Would certainly put football and other activities you have no control over into a new perspective.
Though I see you play dream team......so you are happy to endure a certain...
I assume LMac managed to get Shiels off the ground without dropping him. About the only useful thing he's done this year.
Not one for throwing the baby out with the bath water, but apart from Sheezel, Xerri, & Archer, (Larkey, Wardlaw & Comben too), the rest can be on the trade table, as I...
I think most passionate North fans are pretty well fried, so a break is welcome. Come next weekend though, I'll probably lament there being no game.
But now I can focus on Sheffield Wednesday doing their best North impersonation and finding all sorts of ways to lose as they fight to avoid...
