A slow midfielder and an undersized key defender. Rebuild done!
Both are very good footballers Tauru in particular I hope we get him at least. He plays a lot taller than his listed 191cm and can play back and forward, genuine swing player. Ferocious tackler and incredible marking power.

Understand the hype around Tauru. He’s not too undersized at 194cm, but think he’d be a mistake in the top 10. Reminds me of Gruzewski who went at the first pick of the second round. also reminds me a bit of Georgiades as a forward. His form has been good and he actually is a great interceptor, reads the ball well. I’m not a fan of his kicking personally, a bit lazy at times when taking shorter options. I will say one thing, he flies at the footy. If we played Comben, Tauru and Archer in the backline, it would be mayhem in the air. I wonder if we view him as a forward or a defender.

They’re so wildly different it just shows nobody’s got a clue at this stage
Ashcroft and Smith at 1/3 depending, FOS at 4, lalor at 6 and Armstrong 9/11 and the rest of it is a crap shoot.

Draper and Langford are both at 2 or around 10 depending... can see why it might be hard to trade up into the top 20 or split 2.

Knightmare back on the gear?

I reckon Ashcroft will get a bid very, very early. Brother is lighting it up right now, even draft at the top end - I think clubs won't play games and will bid right off the bat.

Does the consensus opinion of Langford change with improved athletic testing at the combine. Feels like he has more riding on it than any other player at the top end of the draft
Yes and I agree.

If he tests well he'll go top 3. If his testing is a repeat of his numbers at the beginning of the year I wouldn't take him in the top 20.

Just seen a video where this bloke thinks we are obsessed with Tauru so will take him with pick 2 imagine the melts on this board if that happened
If I was to pick based on purely on a highlights reel, Tauru wouldn’t be far off. I suspect the drafting team would go a bit deeper than that!

Incredible how ESPN's list is always a few hours after Twomey..

I really hope we aren't keen on Langford, but heard it a few times now over the past month. Runs like he has bricks for shoes. Kicking doesn't seem great. No x-factor. Looks to be a solid player given his consistency and stats, but none of the footage I have seen has been particularaly impressive.

Jagga Smith is the clear no 1 for me. I think its a bit silly to question his hurt factor, he gets the ball moving quickly out of congestion and can be really damaging. Only quesiton mark is his physique. Get him on 5000 calories and 2 hours in the gym everyday and see what happens.

I'd have Langford more 6-10 because of his 6/10 kicking and lack of burst.
He is a competitor, good overhead and runs hard but not enough class or zip for me to be pick 2.

I like Tauru a lot, has some good attributes as an athletic 194cm player who could play anywhere.
I'd guess he'd be more 10-25 range though.

2024 Coates talent league team of the year very interesting, well done to Xavier Lindsay, the best kick in the draft winning the Morrish medal. My "smokey" that no-one has mentioned made the team, Lenny Douglas or as I've nicknamed him "road runner", love his pace and there is plenty to work with there.

One last thing, on Harvey Langford I think its important to just say like the height thing with key forwards and key defenders I don't think its the issue some are making it out to be {pace}, yes at the combine we will see if he's improved in that regard but think Ben Cunnington, think Scott Pendlebury, think Michael Tuck, think Kevin Bartlett, yes I know he played pretty much forward but my point is smarts and work ethic and endurance, its good to be fast, if you've got the pace, but its even better to be a smart footballer!

Some might also say well that's a pretty handy list of players, well guess what he's not on an AFL list yet and his resume is pretty darn good for a "slow" footballer, some recruiters will have him around the top and some will have him around that 10 mark, the only question is "two recruiters", ours and Richmond.
