Re: So why are you actually a cats fan?
Originally from NSW came to Melbourne in 1961 ( I'm one of the oldies) as a 9 year old. Moved to Altona and in those days you just barracked for Footscray. Younger brother started school and the kid he became best mates with gave him a Geelong jumper...
WE are driving up as well. I can tell you the cheer squad is busing up and will be there behind the goals. There is always a group of the squad travelling all over Australia to support the Cats. We are x squad but still enjoy travelling around Australia supporting the catters.
I just hope we...
We brought our seats of the internet and when we arrive at the ground we were right in the middle of the St Kilda members area. I must say except for the odd one or two they were really nice people. They did question every free we got, cursed Gazza more times than I care to remember but I was...
Congratulations to all other finalists. To Dave from Israel who was over here for the 2007 grand final well done. To Catman such a loyal and dedicated supporter who else would dress the way he does. To the lady who looks after the players, I met you years ago and was very impressed. To all the...
Hi guys, just had to tell you all I made it to the 6 finalists for the Hall of Fame for May. Hubby nominated me, I am the one with Daryl Somers on GFC site. My friend won last month so I am just rapped to get this far. I have some stiff opposition so any vote would be very much appreciated...
Actually went over on Friday night and came back today. Went to the clubs function at Frazers restaurant up in Kings Park. Saw Matthew Spencer but did not get time to chat to him. Joel Corey was there plus Brian Cook and Ronnie Watts. Bus took us to the game up on second level behind the cheer...
Well Geelong 2k9 I am currently a member of the cheer squad, also help out metro cats and have a lot of contact with interstate groups and I can tell you everything you propose is already happening at all those groups. Reading your words I felt like I was reading what the cheer squad do. Also...
Well guys must be the oldest one around here. My first AFL or should I say VFL game was back in1968. I went down to the old Nth Melbourne ground and decided that day to join the cheer squad. Actually stayed a member till 1972 when I went to NZ for a working holiday. Memories from back then...
We are so lucky to see Bomber on a regular basis, great that you could catch up and chat. Sorry you did not win the medal, but hey you got to speak to the coach of next years flag hey!!
We were in New York in Early August and it was very hot then but I guess you are on the way to your winter...
Actually JUBJUB , Norm the President was the original chanter and I think Teach has taken over the last couple of years. Two different people to look , one short , stocky with short crop white hair. The other tall not much hair and wears the Geelong sleevless jumper with 25 on it .
I know the...
Well guys could not help myself in entering into this conversation on the cheer squad.I was secretary of the group for 8 years. I can assure you although I no longer sit with the squad that they and all the other squads are nothing like you think. These groups do a fantastic job raising money...
We were up the art centre end last year about 11am, only about three people deep had a great view right on the fence. But due to work commitments will arrive late so heading up Collins St around 12.15pm hoping to catch the end of the parade then. I do remember they were late getting started last...
I feel for you MrMackie I would have been devastated if I had missed this one. But being a September member had its advantage this time. My son and his wife went in draw and were lucky to get pulled out and my daughter and her partner because of working commitments did no become members paid...
I always thought I would be drunk for a week if we won the flag. But over the years one gets older and ones ideas change.
All I can say if you took a look around the ground and saw the tears that were shed. Grown men crying with delight. Older women who have been to everyone one of those game...
We are September members along with reserved seats in the Hickey Stand so that is expected in the mail In November sometime.
We usually booked for Telstra Dome via the net I guess we will have to get in early for that Essendon match.
Have travelled over several times to watch the Catters play in Perth. I know from talking to the Perth Cats your membership does not get you in. If you join the Perth Cats Gerry Long (G Long) thats right is the President of the group. He usually lets all members know via Perth Cats web site on...
Amen!!! I hate bandwagoners with a burning passion.
Have to agree, at the moment I just remind them how much time and effort hubby and I have put into this club, for some reason they then go all quiet.;)
We were there in 2006, when Otters took the mark of the year. Our seats were on the wing ( near Otter) one row behind the players interchange bench. Boy did we hear a few things there and also made a few comments to the various players. But the view from this area was fantastic .
What I have noticed at my work , is all the so called Geelong Supporters that have climbed aboard.
They were supporting other teams till Geelong slaughtered Port now they have posters everywhere celebrating our win.
Also the so called supporters who ridiculed Mark and the boys all year last...
Just being there was a personal moment. Have followed Geelong for 46 years but never seen a GF. Became a regular member in 1997 went to all the games even interstate but we never made another GF till now.
How can one forget the atmosphere in the Ponsford stand after the siren, all the tears...
Henry was a star in his last season in the VFL. I think nerves got the better of him when he was promoted to play against Port. Everything that could went wrong, I am sure he has a lot to offer and I wish him all the best.
Re: Oh Charlie & King...
I listened to Kingy in his media wrap. He actually mentioned in the conversation that the club sorting things out was the least they could do after 13years. Come on Kingy you played in two Grand finals and got a premiership medallion that could have gone to Blakey. The...
Yes I guess we do all have our bad days, I actually never heard anything my kids and their partners copped it. Your right it does leave bad impressions. But hey they're over it cause we are all still celebrating the year.;)
You must have got him in a good mood. Apparently they tell me he had trouble getting into the after party function ( no green band ). He let out a few descriptive words at the unimpressed group. The real weird thing was that not one of the group spoke to him they were talking to Joel Sellwood...
After the way Shannon Byrnes spoke to members of my family after the Best and Fairest I think you would get many many people to join up. Drink or no drink one should still respect your supporters ( and they were not annoying him just walking down the street). He was upset over something and let...
I exceed a lot of your ages on here so thats my secret.
So I have many memories.
top 5
1. 2007 Premiership
2. The year leading up to the 2007 premiership
3. My ten wonderful years of membership and new friends I've made
4. My 25 foot hanging poster of Brad Sholl ( what a person)
5. The...
Thanks have been around a while,Sue and I go back along way. A lot of the guys on the board were very supportive in some troubles times I had.
