Good luck guys. Hope you get your group up and running. If we are going places next year we need all the support possible.

I cant see us getting much love from the club unless we can fork over some bank........ but count me in........ :thumbsu:

Speaking of not much love, I got an email back from the person at the GEELONG CATS (not GFC-sticklers) who oversees the supporter groups, and there aint much love at the moment......

Read this..................

The establishment and approval of a new supporter group is not
determined by the potential it may have or the alignment it has with the
Clubs marketing position but rather the current ability for it to
confirm a minimum of 15 members (including a full committee) within one
local region.

Putting all of this aside perhaps if you could give me a better
understanding of what you were hoping your involvement with the Club
might be, and then I may be able to provide some more options for you.

yeh...... like i said..... they wont start getting keen on you untill they can establish how much value there is in your/our group....... dont forget... you are a passionate Geelong Cats supporter....... and just because someone works for our club dosnt mean they support the team..... at the end of the day its a business..... so ask yourself.....are you going to go into business with an unknowen random....... Hell no.... you want to know whats in it for you 1st :)

Terrific idea G2K9, count me in too. I can be Eliza's assistant editor. :D

I'm sure we'll get more than 15 to join, but from the club's response though, don't all members have to be from one local region?

Yep, they're all locals in the land of BigFooty. Hmm, mentioning BF might not be a good idea, that's if they read half of the stuff on here.

It sounds to me what the club is trying to say is that a supporter club should represent a geographic region - e.g Melbourne Cats, Perth Cats, etc. You can't really do that with a BF club because it doesn't represent a geographic entity . That's my take on the club's response, anyway.

I'll be checking to see if you can get going, though. I'm not sure there's much I can do over here in the States but if you can get something up and running and there's something I can do to play a part then I'll probably consider it.
