Phillipou maybe? I haven’t see any of these guys but the way draft watchers are talking about his rate of improvement he could be in the mix for our top pick.
Why can’t Ridley do the job that Zerk can? Did realy well on Naughton the week before, and did pretty good in the games he played as our number one tall defender last year. I’d be more confident with him playing on the oppositions best forward than Zerk.
Ridley for Zerk
Durham for Ham
Guelfi...
Looked really emotional after that second goal. Great for him to get some results for his effort, hopefully it gives him some confidence and he gets a clear run with injuries from here.
Honestly better than I was expecting. Yes some incredibly dumb mistakes and skill errors as we always do, but feels like they’ve really upped the pressure and are cracking in hard at the contest at least. Fremantle aren’t a bad side either.
Would probably help if we weren’t missing the entire rest of our forward line due to injuries to stop him from getting double and triple teamed all game.
Some actual free kicks for constantly being held and scragged off the ball wouldn’t go astray either. Imagine if he got the ride Tom Hawkins...
How do you mean we opted out of last years draft? Between the main, rookie, and SPP drafts we added six players. It’s not like earlier drafts where we traded multiple first round picks. The only pick we traded was our second for a highly rated kid with elite potential in Caldwell.
I agree that...
If we’re even close to our salary cap limit with all the high profile players we’ve traded out and a team of mostly young kids then serious questions need to be asked of our list management team. Anyway I’m pretty sure there were articles last year saying we had a lot of room in our cap.
Out: Redman, Ham, Stewart
Ins dependant on who plays well in the VFL I guess, but I think ideally Hobbs, Zerk and Snelling come in.
I probably wouldn’t drop Draper and think he’ll get over his form slump, but there’s nothing wrong with dropping him to find form in the VFL and being in Bryan...
It’s very frustrating that it feels like our veterans hit the wall so much quicker than other teams. Hepp and Dev look like they’re cooked and they’re not even 30 yet, meanwhile guys like Boak, Mundy, and Hawkins will probably be playing until they’re 45.
I like the ins, very happy that they’re finally trialling the two proper rucks and allowing Wright to stay in the forward line.
Francis seems pretty stiff though, I think we could honestly use three proper talls in our forward line and would have just dropped Ham.
Sigh.
Looking for positives. At Caldwell can get some more centre square time now. Perkins too if he we had the luxury of actually letting him out of the forward line. Hobbs surely gets a call up now too.
This sport just absolutely sucks sometimes.
Out: Ham, Smith, Redman, Stewart, Cox (inj)
In: Martin, Wanganeen, Shiel, Zerk, Phillips
Guelfi saved only because Snelling and Tippa aren’t fit yet. Not too sure on the last spot. I think we need another forward marking option in there, Phillips can at least take marks around the ground and...
Might as well replace his position with another KPF/ second ruckman. It’s not like we’re losing any forward pressure or crumbing opportunities based on Dev’s current output, and we might actually takes more more marks inside 50.
I don’t mind him on the wing, and it wouldn’t surprise me if it all clicks for him and he has a great game there soon. But there’s less of a need for him there with the promise of Martin and Durham, meanwhile our senior level KPP stocks are looking dire. Forward, back, it doesn’t matter, either...
Gotta nail your chances against the top teams. Contested stuff was at least much better.
Hopefully Cox and Merrett injuries are minor and they’re good to go. Stringer hopefully better for the run too.
Too many guys that just have no or even negative impact. Ham, Guelfi, Smith, and Stewart...
At least the effort seems to be there. I don’t think we’re a good enough team currently to make up for the players we have out to win this game, but I can at least accept that when they actually dig in compared to how they played against Geelong.
I’ll give Caldwell some leeway as he was at least able to get a couple goals and is pretty inexperienced in comparison.
The others just racked up a lot of garbage, nothing disposals.
Well done to Nick Martin, absolutely outstanding on debut and a great story.
Hobbs, Stringer and Wanganeen...
Hard to be optimistic about this with all the firepower we’re missing from our forward line at the moment and the quality of the team we’re playing.
Prove me wrong boys!
