Knevitt stepped up bigtime late last year. He absolutely dominated in his last 2 or 3 VFL games. His 193cm height gives him such an advantage. He looks like a much better prospect than Clark and Clohesy. Clark had a really ordinary 2024 and has a long way to go to justify his number 8 draft...
Which is becoming a habit for Geelong. Last year we were the last team still choosing players after all other teams had dropped out. The same will happen this year. You can hope to find a rough diamond with these late picks but you'll mostly get list fillers for the VFL team who will be...
I'm with you, given we only have late picks in the draft, I just can't see how we can replace all the lost players. I would hate to think we will throw away future draft picks to get back into this year's draft. It's a vicious cycle.
It is what it is? By staying competitive every year Geelong gets hurt by the AFL equalisation policy. It means we are forced to pick up the leftovers at the end of the draft and hoping that Geelong remains a destination club. We've done well for a decade doing just that so I shouldn't complain.
So of the 42 we had on the list last year only 38 were considered senior listed. What were the other 4 players. Rookies? I don't mind going with less players. Drafting players at the extreme end of the draft is pretty desperate. The only problem is if we have a run of injuries. Stanley, Cuthrie...
I was under the impression we lost 2 through retirement - Tuohy, Hawkins, and another 7 were delisted - Brandan Parfitt, Gary Rohan, Phoenix Foster, Oscar Murdoch, James Willis, Mitch Hardie and Emerson Jeka. We added Smith last night and there is another Irish import. So I figured we need to...
After acquiring Bailey Smith, Geelong's 2024 draft order is 45, 57, 75, 93, 111, 129.
We will have to go extremely deep in the draft to fill all the spaces left in our list. I can see Geelong needing to choose 2 or 3 players after all other teams have dropped out. Not unlike last year's draft.
Geelong's first round pick has slipped to 17 and will probably slip further before free trade period is over at the end of the week. Are the Dogs going to be happy with pick 17 for BS?
Saints getting pick 8 in the draft as compensation for losing Josh Battle. What a joke! Battle is barely an above average player. He averages 16 disposals a game.
She is obviously very popular around the club. She used to be ok but seems to have lost all confidence. She's holding back rather than attacking the ball.
The Cats defence is having a Barry Crocker of a year. Rankin, Meg Mac are consistently in the worst few players. Lack of leg speed seems to be a problem and in general at Geelong. Kearns, Kennedy, Rankin and Meg M had a combined 12 disposals against Hawthorn. Considering all the goals scored by...
I wasn't at the game but I too was wondering when Sydney would increase their pressure, but it never happened. After losing the first quarter, at the start of the 2nd I thought here we go, but it was Brisbane not Sydney.
He's a pretty good player when he's on. He wasn't today but the whole team was shite. You wonder if the pressure got to them. They'd probably played their best game in their heads.
