Trouble being is King is no where near the quality of the players named - to suggest he will reach their levels is pie in the sky stuff IMO.

Andrew Dillon himself recently stated the AFL will be pulling back on what free agent compensation they hand out. So I very much doubt we are going to get Band 1 compensation for Battle if he departs. It will most likely be a Band 2 end of 1st round pick which by the time all the northern...

It is a lot of money but on current output IMO he is worth more to the team than Max King, what is he on?

A poster on another site seems pretty confident Battle has committed to Hawthorn and will be leaving at seasons end. He suggested he is a really popular player about the club and there are a lot of very unhappy players as a result of whats gone on. If true I gather that suggests the club havent...

More hoo ha over not much the biggest suggestion was to trade Max King - I wonder if the club would ever entertain that?

1 list spot open in the MSD, what position do we need to fill the most or do we pick best available or do we pick a mature aged player.

I doubt that happens, but it sounds like Hotton would be the first to admit how frustrated he has been with his lack of footy due to his injuries.

Battle is a selfless team player who produces each and every week, as a club you simply cant afford to lose fabric players. I understand people think we may get an early compensation, but for centuries the AFL have found mysterious ways of screwing our club I wouldn't count on fair compensation...

Our defence was the best in the league last season and Battle is still rated really highly, hence I cant believe people are eager to see Battle leave. The last thing we need to be doing is losing one of key pillars we need to be building on them. If we lose Battle who takes his place there is...

    Preview Round 12, 2024: West Coast v St.Kilda - Optus Stadium - Saturday 1st June, 4.35pm AEST

Dead rubber who really cares anymore? At least now we can watch the games without any real expectations. I get as much enjoyment out of following Rugby League and Super Rugby when the Saints arent going well.

Im not suggesting that all players shouldnt be paid well - they should. I dont have the answers but surely someone could provide a solution to allow struggling clubs to not have to pay the exact same salary to their players as others. The AFL football is a commercial industry, its not like the...

I can understand that players get drafted or forced to clubs they dont chose, hence the AFPA wanting the players paid similiarly. But the down side is that the 95% hard bar causes these same players from ever experiencing club bounce back and some never play finals. Someone smarter than myself...

Thanks for the info, insights like that add clarity to our decisions. I was hoping we would take Soligo in his draft year so if Hall is as good we will be wrapt. Its obvious classy midfielders are a desparate need at the Saints, so he would be a strong choice.

The age are reporting we have also shown interest in Iliro Smit a 200cm mobile ruckman. "They are also keeping an eye on Hawthorn’s Next Generation Academy big man Iliro Smit, who has interest from St Kilda as well." Id be happy with either Hall (midfielder) or a ruckman, both are list list...

IMO we cant afford to lose any of our top senior players. We need to stick fat and hope we can grab another handful of top quality kids/players at years end. Keep developing the kids and when hopefully they can improve enough whilst our senior players are still going well. The entire club is...

    2024 Draft Thread.

Totally agree, I dont know what went on with Toce' but he was best talent spotter our club had ever had IMO. Dalrymple has some big shoes to fill, I hope the club hasnt made the wrong call. There is no doubt he has been at clubs where good list have evolved, but both those clubs have had leg ups...

    Autopsy Round 11, 2024: Melbourne v St.Kilda

Post of the day on the Autopsy Thread. Prior to the injuries piling up at the start of the season I had a really positive outlook for the year ahead. Now I share your pessimism and cant see us turning this around this season. Perhaps the break might give the coaches some clean air to make the...

I dont think speed is an issue, he (Lowe) is quick enough. I think he is one who has the skills that might translate better at a higher level. The other who I rate as a rookie chance is Will Veseley (didnt play today) he just knows how to find the ball and kick goals. However all the media seem...

Keelers opponent today Jefferson kicked 5 goals, he was servicable but not his best game. Shoenmaker started the game slowly but progressed as the game went on. There is no doubt he is a sensational kick but he needs to work on his contested marking and defensive game still. As I mentioned in...

    Autopsy Round 11, 2024: Melbourne v St.Kilda

Agree throwing and holding the ball are forgotten rules. The AFL and umpires are so concerned about making the game faster and flow they simply dont want to blow their whistles any more. Its a trend in the game that our coaches are slow to pick up and address with the players. Scragging and...

    Autopsy Round 11, 2024: Melbourne v St.Kilda

The one positive we now have pick # 4 at the MSD. I said this at the start of the year, with our developing (lacking quality) list we were never going to recover with the number of important players we had out injured to start the season. They battled away undermanned for a number of weeks, but...

    Game Day Round 11, 2024: Melbourne v St.Kilda - MCG - Sunday 26th May, 3.20pm AEST

Do we EVER see any of our forwards use the hands in the back to hold out defenders to take marks. Our skills right across all facets of the game are terrible, the more I see the more I believe its really poor coaching. Lyon is so concerned with our structures and our ball movement he has over...

Well done Saints we have played Melbourne back into form. I dont know if its the players only or players/coaching but collectively we play the dumbest football in the competition. We are playing for draft picks for the remainder of just another year - when will it end? :(

Hotton's last 2 games have been very good, if he could get more of the ball when in the midfield he could be a really important player. He deserves a game next week. The penny might have dropped for Max Heath he has had two very good games in a row and is finally starting to show we thought he...
