I don't think it will be 18yr olds eligible for an AFL list being quarantined, but rather 17yr olds getting drafted a year early.
From memory, Coniglio, Martin and Swallow were drafted under this scheme and early access to Hogan & was traded to the Dees.
Can someone who knows the bidding rules explain to me how a points deficit going into next season works? For example, a Champion bid comes just after pick 26 and we fall 500 points short, does that mean our F1 gets discounted by those 500 points?
With reduced points attached to draft picks next...
Do we really want Bo Allan at 12?
Feels like we're already due to slot a lot of players at half back over the next few years for various reason, Ginbey & Chesser failed mids, Ryan & Yeo failing bodies, & Maric because we have enough forwards.
Would rather we target a mid, be it Lindsay...
We just delisted Culley who looked good at WAFL but was exposed for his lack of speed at AFL level.
Can Langford's football ability make up for the lack of athleticism?
We screwed our 2024 draft hand but our 2025 picks are now really strong. Lets stop with these silly pick-swap suggestions that will ruin our 2025 hand.
If we finish bottom 4 next year and Hawks drop off a little bit and miss the top 8, we could enter the 2025 draft with a top 5 pick, a 2nd top...
I hate this "set training standards" justification for overpaying for Baker.
If we need Baker to set standards, what the f*ck are McGovern, Yeo, Kelly, Duggan, Cole, Allen, Cripps, etc doing? If they're not setting standards, why the f*ck are they getting their contracts renewed again and again...
We've also got a father son & a couple NGA's we'll need points for, so chances are a lot of our draft capital next year is getting chewed up to match bids.
Guy bleated on about Richmond getting fair trade compensation and there have been suggestions that Graham signing with us was contingent Baker coming, all of which had Eagles on the back foot with negotiations.
Clarke & Pyke didn't have the balls to walk away, but Baker played his role too.
If a large reason for why we're trading down from the top 3 is because none of the kids want to leave Vic and are vocal about it, I bloody hope the Eagles are lodging a formal complaint to the AFL.
It's beyond a joke that non-WA clubs are drafting WA kids, Vic kids are refusing to come to WA...
Pyke on SEN throwing fuel on the fire by justifying the trade as a good one when the whole AFL can see we got reemed.
If it wasn't for Harley Reid, I don't reckon I'd bother watching 2025.
The five stages of trade period – denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
We're officially at bargaining, with suggestions of protests and e-mailing the club to bargain with them for a change of heart.
Can someone fill me in on what the proposed trade is? Scrolled through several pages and refuse to believe the proposed trade is genuine.
All I can find is that we're trading 3 for 12 + out of contract Baker + to be delisted Owies and somehow Carlton end up with pick 3?
You can only bring in youth for so long.
Hawthorn's strategy this trade period is to lift from "almost top 4" to premiership contenders. Barrass & Battle could make them genuine flag chance.
I wonder if Hawks will make a play for GC's pick 6 and look to ontrade that to us?
2xF2 picks for GC's 6 + 29
Hawks walk away with Barrass + Carltons F2 + 29
Eagles get pick 6
GC get 2 x F1's
Another day of trade week, another day of no action.
And just to ream it up us a bit further, on Wednesday when all trades happen, they can't be announced till 6pm or some such shit.
Don't recall who it was yesterday on SEN in the evening wrap, but the conversation was that Bo Allen won't be a top 10 pick, but won't be far outside the top 10.
There's two things that matter in your scenario though, 1) what is coming back and 2) what are we conceding in terms of talent by dropping from 13 to 24/32?
https://www.draftguru.com.au/analysis/pick-value-comparison
Statistically, pick 14 will play 118.7 games and we have a better than 1 in 4...
