Looks like he has great instinct and can read the play. Small frame, but Eddie Betts and Charlie Cameron do too and they're guns.
Excited to see him play.

Courtesy of Zero Hanger these are the shortest current AFL players. Eddie Betts was 174cm for the record

So at 172cm he’s at the bottom end of the list but also in some pretty good company. At 18, he might still have another centimetre or two of growth in him

Good thing Simmo isn't around anymore, he'd burst a vessel having to coach 2 of the 9 shortest AFL players.

Seems like a ripper kid, I get a good feeling about this one.

Gee, kid is a very good speaker.

Don't want to stereotype but aside from Kelly, the other indigenous boys at the club look like they're about to shit themselves when in front of a mic.

Then there was Willie, who appeared to be having a stroke when he was having an interview, he looked that nervous.

Was about to say he reminds me of Wirra and Jetts, both were ok in front of the mic.
But he also sounds like he has that pure joy that eddie betts has as well.

Absolutely think we have a ripper here.

Signs of Cannabis-Induced Psychosis
Psychosis can cause many troubling symptoms. If you witness any of these symptoms in someone who uses weed regularly, it is vital to understand that the situation could quickly worsen.

  • Severe anxiety: feelings of paranoia or unrealistic interpretations of the surrounding environment can become overwhelming very quickly and without intervention.

Manages a curly request for a thesis on declining participation rates amongst indigenous players too! Sheesh

He is genuinely a terrific kid
His mum is amazing too
I have worries about him getting hit high and copping another concussion as his career could be over
But having said that I desperately want him to succeed for two years now been since 16 championships
been watching him, and his want to succeed has been a highlight

How many concussions has he had?

"Hai Malakai, how was your first training session? Good good...

So anyway can you tell me what's the deeeaal with the declining indigenous participation in the sport and why aren't the current established pathways no longer feasible?

Cheers"

That is very often a cultural + confidence thing. Communication rules in indigenous family systems can be vastly different. In some circumstances you have to mostly listen when being addressed by elders, and eye contact can even be out of bounds as a sign of respect - so lots of looking down and keeping quiet depending on who you are conversing with.

That said, this fella reminds me of his uncle Eddie - he looks so joyous and confident, and probably a fair bit of cheek in him. What a ripper energy to have around the club. Hope he goes well.

One question for those that have seen Mal play - does he have an overhead game too like his Uncle? Mostly see him doing real well getting into space and his deft skills from the vision I’ve watched so far
