I was in Sale (Victoria) in the early 80's and it was a desolate place for music...the only radio station was 3TR (pretty sure that stood for "trash radio")...and there was only one record store in town for a long time ran by a woman and her daughter (reckon they were god botherers as they didnt...
Pink Floyd - The Wall rebadged as Roger Waters The Wall...couple of years ago in Melbourne..loved every second of it, bleating out the lyrics to the songs was pretty cool too...

Have recently gotten into Samuel Barber...mainly due to his ethereal "Addagio For Strings" that I first heard on a compilation CD from the ABC (my first ever CD) back in about the late 80's (and heard it again whilst watching Platoon)...other than that I dont have a preference for any particular...

Thats the thing...the Welcome to Country ceremonies are very welcoming...they make the recipients welcome to the land on which they are visiting...of the ceremonies I have attended, they have been serious but a side note has often played a part that attracts a bit of humour...Welcome to...
It’s one of the unfortunate traits of our consciousness as nation I believe.
I went to the Crows/Collingwood game last week and sat through the ”Welcome to Country” ceremony before the match…I have sat through and actually delivered many of these ceremonies (acknowledge the traditional owners)...
Excellent come from behind win that will be talked about for many a year...a great start to the year...
I listened to the last 5 minutes of the match streamed live via the AFL site (petty it wasnt on free to air TV)...what a great closing to the match it was too...

I went to the game purely for the reason to see history in the making...the first game in Melbourne of the new club...I was there to support them as I will be every time I see them play either in person or when watching them on the box...glad to see the game expanding...
