Just watched the last quarter again and one thing that stuck out for me was was how Lippa chose to corral McCluggage on the boundary when he set up the Daniher goal instead of doing whatever it took to force him over the line. Thank f*** we hung on because I reckon that would be the moment that would haunt us for years to come if they pinched it after that. Oh well, all's well that ends well I suppose 😁🏆

Another memory from the last quarter as things were looking a touch shaky and the camera started to scan the crowd................anyone else think to themselves "for God's sake don't show Eddie" ? Didn't want any more deja vu at that time.

Hey, you know what? It’s quarter time and the Pies have just kicked an inspirational goal to go up by 10, Charlie Cameron’s doing ******* nothing… why don’t we run a ******* stupid “You Be The DJ” poll where two of the options are absolute dribble to split the vote, and the third is the de facto Brisbane theme song? That’d be a great idea for a Grand Final, don’t you think?

And straight after halftime he kicks one, hands off one then kicks another.

Couldn't post on the weekend. No words were going to be adequate.

Weirdly, an overwhelming sense of calm before and during match. Even after - pregame where I got myself a 6 pack of Gipps St Lager for good luck I immediately tripped on a traffic island, fell on my face and broke my reading glasses. So much for good omens.

And then... it was just like watching in slow motion. Even as I felt sick during the middle of Q2 as Lions started to kick away, there we were clawing back and then getting in front again. We couldn't be stopped.

That wasn't a victory for 4 quarters. That was a victory for 2 whole seasons of training to win. Adams, JFN, McStay... even Reef, Finn, Harvey and our other cameos. They all built that.

After a personally terribly year, this marks the moment where it all feels perfect. Floreat Pica. Hope everyone here is still feeling the love.

If anyone wants an entertaining read, head to the gameday Coll v Bris review thread from round 23 Marvel. The doomsayers were rampant that day. Wrote us off. Patricularly a bloke called Prankster. Couldn't win it. Anyone who thought so was delusional.

Bet they're celebrating still though. In fact, one who called me delusional has even changed their profile pic rather quickly :tearsofjoy:

I am fairly sure tough guy Prankster is an oppo troll. Been invisible recently

Suspended.
Yep, likely an oppo troll given his posting history and the fact that he copped more than just a 1 week suspension.

My guess is an upset Carlolton flog.

Absolute loser.

Was a fair Brisbane flavour with the ground entertainment stuff including the coin tosser being a lions fan.

That was the first WTF! moments for me on the day

We did finish on top didn't we

Since and including our drought breaking premiership in 1990 we’ve had some heartache but this flag significantly soothes the recent pain . We are now 3 wins 4 losses. Time to square up that modern day ledger! One more please!

( sadly we are never going to get back the eight we lost between 1958 and 1990 but that’s what has made us strong and unified……grand final losses no longer define us)

This. Thought Nick, Mitchell and Crisp all had more impact than Coleman. They were the difference makers.

7 of 12 Pies goals came from the midfield; Bris midfield only scored 3.

All the focus beforehand was on the Brisbane forward scoring power -- I didn't see any mention of the midfield scoring.

Over the season the Bris forwards (241 goals) had Pies covered (155 goals) - excluding those that didn't play like McStay, Jonhson, Gunston.

But Pies midfield scored 127 goals to Bris 78 over the season (excluding Ashcroft, Adams)

Bris were much more reliant on forward goals (241 forwards/78 mids), Pies were more balanced (155 forwards, 127 mids).

Neale only kicked 3 goals for the season (matched by John Noble!). Dunkley only kicked 2. McCluggage was their highest on 13, behind Nick 19, JDG 18, Cox 17, Josh 16.

Naicos the highest of our midfielders despite games missed and starting backline for much of the season - critics bang on about cheap kickout stats but seem to miss the goals kicked!

I’m still replaying all of the great moments of the grand final over in my mind. Most especially that forty seconds of sheer brilliance in the last quarter that won us the grand final.Daicos winning the clearance in the middle, giving it to Pendlebury, then Daicos running forward roving the ball off the pack, giving a freakish handball to Degoey who kicked it perfectly from 50 metres out. Then in the next passage of play Sidebottom kicking that miracle goal from outside 50,undoubtably the longest goal in his entire career.Just magic both of those moments, and it won us the game.

People can say what they like and whinge all they like about the stupid play on call, but our team deserved that win. They were the best team all day and should have won by more if anything. If we had kicked straight throughout that game, the final result wouldn’t even have been close.
