Just finished watching the game again. Focused on WHE and Lipinski a lot for some reason. Both had some great moments and both are just so good playing their roles. So stoked for WHE in particular after years of selfless service. The other thing I noticed was that after Brisbanes first goal the tension just remained at the same level for the whole match. It was like being in a trance for 2 hours. Cracker of a match.

Yep if there was an award for most underrated performance from the game I’d say Lipinski’s name is up there. I have raged like many in the past over him getting pushed off the ball too easily in one on one ground ball contests, but if that level is what he can provide I think he’ll improve us next year (his season was so-so).

Him and McStay I’m excited to see more reliance on (and Schultz). On that note how good has our recruitment from other clubs been? Top class.

So that round 23 game at marvel was one of the worst experiences I ever had at the footy.

Was sitting in an area full of lions fans, the things they were yelling all game were disgusting and I have been attending Collingwood vs Carlton games for years and never heard the stuff they were saying. Hoping Murphy would get injured all game (who knows why) then he gets injured and all cheer saying deserved etc

Any pies fans seated in the area will know the Grand Final was a major serving of justice for those few hundred lions fans

I hope we play them in Melbourne next season and I hope I get seated with the same fans as I will be decked out in some premiership merch
Astoundingly I had a similar experience at that game, but unless you were near the front of the top tier in a pocket I don’t think we were near one another.

Culminated in a family of Brissy supporters getting turfed for their behaviour. Priceless.

I was close to the front of a top tier in a pocket haha. There was a gross family behind me with a Mum who had an annoying voice who complained the whole game non stop but they didnt get kicked out

Hmm was there a Pie supporting boyfriend amongst said family?

With about ten left in the game one of the girls threw their beer around spraying all and sundry around her, and then started bawling her eyes out when she and her family were asked to leave. They were classy start to finish but that was the cherry on top of their performance.

I only ask because outside of the not getting kicked out part it sounds like you described the bay I was in to a tee. 😂

nah it was a mum, dad and two late teenage sons, all gross. Think it was the end Lions cheersquad was. I was above where Frampton didnt get an obvious free and they goaled from it

Definitely a different family then. Sounds like all cut from the same cloth though (right down to the cheering/jeering at injuries).

Weird, as every other Lions supporter I’ve ever met in my life has been relatively gracious and down to earth, especially ex-Fitzroy folk.

they were complaining about frees that weren't even being paid like if Josh went near the ball he was gonna get a free because of his surname even though he never ended up getting it, was flipping weird. Was just a weird and unexpected level of hate, all game, constant, every minute of the game

There's your answer, Lions supporters up here are ****in idiots and they know jack shit about the game

(only thing they know is the words to country road)

As admirable as Frampton was on Andrew’s for the first 3 quarters i cant help think after my 73rd replay watching that McStay would of made the result far more comfortable
Just the team kicking straight would have made the result far more comfortable.
Really dominated early and didn’t ice the game. While when they got started they couldn’t miss.

Hard to be certain. See how you feel after 74.

Agree with all the above. If we get Prelim McStay and GF Lipinski consistently I’ll be very happy.

Yep, this beautiful passage of play is now folklore in our history and we'll look back on this, just like we look back at Shaw's smother in 2010 and the Daicos goal on the boundary in 1990.

So many times in so many GFs, there were folklore incidents that went against us, finally we get one back which will live in our memories for ever!
