hopefully maddinson can go on. i've always maintained that despite his lack of runs (and lynn's), that those two are the two most talented of all the young batsmen in the country such as burns, m marsh, handscomb etc,. i haven't seen enough of travis head. him scoring runs is good for australian cricket.

and even though he's likely to be ignored, if butterworth has 4 huge games to finish the same, surely he's gotta be a chance for england. if we're looking at an all rounder to occupy number 7 him and james faulkner should be streets ahead of smith, maxwell and henriques.

Smith and Henriques as AR's I agree. Maxwell is criminally underrated as a FC AR though. He's got a FC average with the bat of 42 and bowling average of 33. Those are decent numbers for a 6/7 and second spinner

maxwell has been the best of those three yes i'd agree. outside of that season where steve smith hit 4 ton's his not really done a whole lot in first class cricket, and his average is a fairly paltry 34.5. we've also seen smith have a shot and test cricket and his technique doesn't look tight enough.

i'm still unconvinced on maxwell's style. i think his technique is questionable (though at number 7 you're not expecting a mark waugh type technique) and we'll see about his off spinners. nevertheless if they don't pick khawaja at number 6, maxwell should be the number 7.

of the three young all rounders gone to india, i do think henriques is the most likely to be a success at test cricket (i don't think any will). he's got a good solid technique, and before he moved through the grades he was genuinely quick. he was quicker at 16 than he was at 21. but despite having a good technique, he's not a natural batsmen as such. a bit like cameron white he came through the system as a bowler, that fell away a bit (MH is still a solid bowler unlike CW), and he became more reliant on his batting. whatever reason he hasn't fired any real shots at first class level. perhaps something mental - he did have a LOT of pressure placed on him as a youngster coming through. before his elevation to the state team he was dominating grade cricket with the bat. some people don't find the step up from grade to state level too hard, and some even thrive, whilst some struggle. henriques clearly in the latter.

butterworth back on, tassie gotta throw it all at nsw. i wouldn't be taking him off until we've passed them, or we're all out. season is 90% over for whichever team misses out here.

we get two points and we need to make up 5 points and leapfrog 2 teams. that'll be tough enough but very doable. miss the two points here and we need to make up 7 points and leapfrog 3 teams.

c'mon lads.

Tassie need to look at Adam Maher's place in the team. Since the start of the 2011/2012 season he has taken 7 wickets at 59.57. Now I dont expect huge things from the support bowler and he's in and out but given Butterworth has chimed in his with share of the wickets you'd expect Maher to take 1 or two, but he is consistantly struggling to do that. It's time to unleash a youngster for his spot now.

Their best attack is Faulks, Butters, X, Hilf and Bird. Pretty handy. I don't know about any of the talent coming through grade level though

Copeland 7 short of his maiden FC century. Oh god, if this bloke get's a ton I will be forever disappointed in you Tassie
How will you cope?

Guessing Rohrer will declare after Copes' ton.

He was never that good with the bat IIRC.

and Madd's 150. But that would be foolish IMO, try to score quick runs over the next 2 sessions and try to bowl them out for less than 200

Well done to Copeland with his maiden FC ton. Showed me up #TooGood. Madds approaching his 150. It'll be interesting if Rohrer declares after that or if he pushes on and get's a decent lead and try to push hard for half a day

my team from that

Scott Henry
Daniel Hughes
Tim Cruickshank
Nic Maddinson
Peter Nevill
Sean Abbott
Trent Copeland
Luke Doran
Adam Zampa
Doug Bollinger
Gurinder Sandhu

not the best team we could pick from that probably, but i'll be damned if I'm playing both of Cruickshank and Dawson in a match that doesn't really matter. Give the kids a go!
