Probably his most impressive game so far. He was scratchy in the first quarter but improved immensely since that point. Love him.

Would love to see him take Zaka's role. He seems more than capable of being a high possession accumulator, receiver and a good ball user to be used as an outside mid and he also seems to run the game out better than most whilst having something a lot of our mids lack and that's the smarts and pace and cover ground defensively. I mean, if you're good enough, you're good enough regardless of experience.

Honestly he's looking like he will be top 10 in our b&f in his first year. Making a massive impact now each week.
I want him in the midfield already but we probably do need a small back there that can actually win his matchup each week and provide rebound. I had high expectations about his maturity, professionalism and athleticism but the thing that's impressed me the most is his kicking. I had thought that would be a bit of a weakness but he's actually a very accurate kick. He doesn't have a super long kick but he hits targets every time and with his line breaking abilities it doesn't matter that he's not the longest kick because its not hard for him to take the defender on.

His change of direction on a dime is pretty special. It will be the thing that defines him the same way the "don't argue" defines Dustin Martin.
Plus he's got really clean hands when it comes to gathering the ball which is actually a critical factor for a midfielder.

It's very conservative to continue with him in the back line when we need to win games.

More importantly was anyone else packing shite when he crashed into the fence yesterday?

We need our future midfield to start playing together right now. Get the young man in the middle and let him learn his craft.

This.
It's clear that it's not our year so it's the logical thing to do. Start growing the group that we see being our next contending side together.

We lacked a high pressure, high intensity midfielder on Sunday and Andy could've been that spark.... we also had a plethora of small backs in the team so we did really have that flexibility for once. The coaches should have pulled the trigger.

Parish,Heppel,McGrath,Merret.

Just need to find a mid in the mould of Wines,Viney,Crips to replace Jobe hopefully we can get one in this years draft.

Cassidy Parish? ;)

Barring injury he looks an absolute certainty for rising star award. With McNiece going ok the past fortnight I'd like to see more of McGrath on the wing this week. If Walters gets away from McNiece, Baguley etc we can always swing McGrath back there but I'd like to see him opposed to Brad hill on the wing. We haven't had many opportunities to see his pace in the back pocket but on the open ground in Perth off a wing McGrath might be a weapon to help win the match.

Nah he's not a certainty at all
This time last year weitering was just as much of a favorite. Media award, changes quickly. He is doing everything right though.

I agree. Get him in the midfield for parts of games. Get him some exposure and see how how goes.

Spoke to him tonight about the prospect of winnjng thw rising star, of course he doesnt care and would be much happier that the team gets results and he can keep playing his role. He is more worried about keeping his spot in the side for starters haha

He's deluded, He will never be dropped his entire career. :)

Will become our most damaging player and we have a few really damaging ones already.

Can't wait until our new youth all combine. The core is there already and most are under 23.

Yep time to put him in the middle his cleaness with ball in hand and explosiveness is what we are lacking big time.

You're all assuming he's playing in defence for team structure, or that's where the coach thinks he fits best at the moment, or there are other mids in front of him currently in the coaches eyes, or something along those lines.

More likely it's to manage the loads on his body. If the conditioning staff believe his body is ready to play there, we will see him there, you can count on it.

I understand they're trying to manage him too but it'd be good to see him get the odd run on the ball when we need a spark. Along the lines of 7-8 mins per quarter.

I know it will happen in time but I can't wait. It'll be fun to watch when it happens.
