Actually it was Pick 13 as of 3 days ago ...

Ahh, I get it now. What I listed earlier were our selections if it was a national draft. But given that it’s only a local draft we have 7 out of the first 30 Vic Metro picks now. That is very healthy.

The club would be very happy with the result, and in another 5-10 years as the standard of play picks up and the talent pool widens we will look back even more fondly on the deal.

Going to be interesting looking back at the caliber of topline players in Year 1 in comparison to the best in Year 10 of AFLW.
As the channels for the development of the women in the game open up more (football for girls in primary and high school) we are going to see more players like Maddie coming through. Probably in 10 years time, someone like Maddie will be going in the later rounds of the draft instead of being a first round pick. That's not a slight on her skills and abilities, it's just that there will hopefully be a lot more girls coming through who are as good or better than she is!

It’s shit to lose Bri - she’s a star and something doesn’t quite add up here.

Collingwood have been bog ordinary since the AFLW’s inception and long may that continue.

This will hurt us in the short term, it’ll be interesting to see if we’ve got a replacement in the works.

Long term though this sets us up well. The girls coming through now are hugely talented and we’ve got a strong draft hand. That’s important with the amount of player movement at this early stage of the competition.

Thanks for your efforts in Navy Blue, Bri. Been a pleasure to watch you play.

Now you are just another Collingwood player who I have very little interest in.

She was close to leaving last year too.

I reckon Eddie has offered some opportunities that we can't offer.

We will be fine. I think her season was okay but nothing special and she hardly ever smiled when the team one. She knew she was leaving all year.

We don't have Pick 26.

We have Picks 2, 12, 22 and 30.

Sorry - was looking at something else

Four picks in the top 30 - we can pick the eyes out of the Vic Metro squad, and as I mentioned this generation of players have been playing football since Auskick, they will be quality, and ten year players if they display more loyalty to our former captain.

Come on guys leave her partner alone. The season’s over.
I agree completely Robbo. As I said earlier in this thread, purely from a football and list management perspective, I’m happy with the decision to delist Lucas-Rodd, notwithstanding her very solid performance against Freo in the prelim. For me though, my happiness has nothing to do with her being Bri’s partner.

I'm disappointed too. Our best player in the inaugural year and then the knee injury last year. She wasn't quite as good this year (possibly Prespakis shone brighter).

Let's hope we get some quality new players with the extra picks.

Yep Jabba, I’m prepared to thank Bri for her efforts as a Blues player and leader, but for me it’s a bridge too far to wish her well at the Pies. I kind of get the money thing, but with these sorts of decisions I often think of the quote that “money often costs too much” (Ralph Waldo Emerson, iirc). Tbh, I hope that Bri gets Hosking-d or Tayla-d when we next meet the Pies - it would be a statement that could help to develop our distinctive AFLW culture at the Blues.

To paraphrase Morrissey, if I seem a little bitter ... well that’s because I am!

I felt that Bri spent most of the season gradually rebuilding confidence in her knee, but I have to say that I thought she was very good at the pointy end.

This will be her Gary Ablett to Gold Coast moment.

Enjoy the L's Bri.
That would be nice ... but will we welcome her back in a few years time? Don’t think I could tbh, but I suppose it’s all a bit raw atm - I just feel very let down, and disappointed for Harf and the players. Anyway, as others have said, onwards and upwards!

I'm more annoyed at Richmond getting pick 1 on top of all the great players they have poached.
Hopefully the middle to bottom end of the Tiges list will prove their undoing Neese, because as you say their top end talent is looking rather ominous

The Marquee players were all about the $ and plum jobs.

The loyalty factor should become more of a thing with young players being drafted by clubs in increasing numbers.

Should also settle down once the league has no more expansion teams entering the league.
