what for, on the off chance one of his boys may be ok at footy...

Integrity at selection sets standards nearly more than anything else at a footy club, and you want to compromise that on a hope that Pickett's kids are ok?
Picketts boys are more than just OK
The club well and truly know this as well and have been under their noses last 5 years

Also he is 100% still best 23 in our team and if you dont believe he is then we should be premiers this coming season
Bloke was played in a role thats not natural to him and need to move past 2023

I beleive his best would probably have him in there, but I also don't think he plays his best often enough (yes, he did get played out of position last year).

And on the boys, there is being more than ok, then there is top 30 draft level, nothing I have seen or heard suggests they are top 30 type talent

Genuine question, how do we know Picketts kids are good? I thought they were all pretty young still.
We do not, but a pretty good player (a superstar if you only ever looked at his 2019 GF debut) and a name with footy blood... Three sons not too far apart in age is a pretty amazing "haul" for father/son, if indeed they end up liking and being decent at footy.

We'd just rather not miss out IF they end up being good, especially given our lack of luck with father/sons generally.

Where could you possibly see or hear anything about their ability or talent

Marlion jnr is just 13
latrell 10 years old
Levi 5 year old
shaniquae 7 years old

I have been to traing atleast 10 times since marlion was drafted and the 2 older boys are there all the time and always with a footy in their hands doing tricks and stuff kids do and they certainly have the skills and that freaky ability the indigenous kids have with movement and vision. Now add in their fathers physical traits as well as both Marlion and the other players and coaches being around passing on tips and guidance. they will play and most likely play AFL

But no matter what level they would be drafted we certainly want first dibs

this is my point, you are abosolutely reaching if you think our selection criteria should be based on the possibility of these kids being any good because you saw them at training do a few flashy things.

You will get a gaugue with Marlion Jnr this year, as he will be old enough for Rep Footy for whatever league he plays in.

The percentage of kids that get drafted is so small yet you want to compromise our on field perfomance "just in case"...?
Give me a spell.

If Marlion is good enough to get to 100 games, great, if not, then just bad luck for us

Mate are you for real !!!

Marlion Pickett is best 23 every day of the week at the Richmond football club and in your own words agreed his positional change sacrificed his game in 2023. So how am i wanting to compromise our onfield performance ?? What by making sure we get an extra 6-7 games into marlion to make sure

give me a break mate seriously we are not wionning flags in the next 2-3-4 years whilst rebuilding and if any thing you are compromising our ability to get father son talent through.

Pickett is best 23 in 2024 by anybody's book

Not yet he's not. Let's see how he goes once the season starts before he's definite best 23. He's one of quite a few who's going to be fighting for a spot.

A few senior guys will be pushed out this coming season.

NO HE ISNT, not everyday of the week... some days maybe, but not everyweek, so it's not a given.

And he's 22 games of the 100 mark, so that means we play him weeks he doesn't deserve it, or we keep him for 2 years on the list all in the hope his kids are any good.

How does that look to Trez, Brown, Sonsie, Ross, Cumbo, Coulthard, Clarke etc who would all be busting their backside to get into the ones and or stay in the ones, but they get the arse, just so we can rack up games for Marlion in the hope his kids are any good. It's a terrible policy!

It's exactly what slowed the progress this year of a couple of kids and their development, Kmac getting games week in week out on reputation rather than onfield output, and having kids not get the opportunity to get experience (they deserve) in the ones.

The one thing you're right on is, it prob won't cost us a flag this year or next, but it will certainly slow our transition for these kids in the upcoming years.

Agreed, if it was 10 games, maybe, just maybe you consider it, not a whole seasons worth.

yep, at 10 games, you could probably do half of them as the sub, and not have too much an impact at all. But a whole season, or 22 games over 2 seasons... it's a massive stretch.

Next thing we will be saying we hope Ben Miller's boy comes good in 17 years, so lets get him to 100 games as well...

Lets agree to disagree then see how it pans out half way through the year

If he doesnt get locked up and its round 11 and he has played every game and needs another 10

If fit and available he is playing every game

Steadied the ship after the first quarter onslaught along with Broady and Shorty. I thought Vlas was brilliant

Those three showed they’ll be a huge presence for this team this year. All three will be under huge pressure at times considering the inexperience that will be around them but yesterday was great sign.

Yeah, there was footage of the boys playing kick to kick after the grand final in 2019. We are that desperate for a father son we will take any son who can kick the ball to his brother.

I don't know his personality type. Obviously a laidback surfer chippy. Would've loved him to have been captain after Cotchin. Leading BnF already hopefully got another 4 years minimum in him. I wouldn't object if down the line he gets carried to 300 games. Absolute gun.
