That's total bull-sheet...T.S. averages a magnificent 4 Brownlow votes per Season!!!I most certainly did not ignore the Brownlow vote post, I gave a whole post to explaining why I think the player ratings are a better guide.
In any event Stewart averages 4 Brownlow votes per season.
And has flat filed off elbow points!!!Vlastuin is a better bloke.
I just wanna know what role Vlastuin will play in helping us win games next year and getting us back to finals.
People can choose to live in the past as much as they want and sit and glorify past deeds, fact is we missed finals against this year and haven't gone past eighth in three years.
And I want to know how Vlastuin will improve his discipline.
Gives away too many silly frees and has become more undisciplined by the year.
Captain pffttt!!
I know it does t compute on your stats program, but not every undisciplined act is a free kick!Vlastuin gave away 14 free kicks in 2023 at the rate of 0.67 free kicks against per game. This is his lowest free kicks against return since his second season 2014. It is also well down on his previous career average of around 1 free kick against per match.
I cant stand Geelong, they're our biggest nemesisObvious point...take the bias out of choosing so called elite backman!
Second obvious point...take the bias out of the Geelong Mafia's Media push of so called elite backmen!!
SauceI think a new role for vlaustin on the wing is a possibility, he is so good at reading the play …. He’s almost like a mind reader! As a wingman I think he will intercept all the risky kicks the oppositin half backs do when they want to kick the ball through the corridor to open up the play ….. he will turn defence into attack and generate lots scores through turnovers

No source just my opinionSauce
Why not? Why are you so against it?Not a ******* chance.
He isn't quick enough for one, and he is so good in his natural position. Not a ridiculous notion because of his reading of the play as you say, but I think there is a queue of players who could do it also, from the old brigade, Short or Rioli, surely Pickett deserves to have a crack after being wasted up forward. Ross was good there last season, Mansell could play there, Sonsie, Banks, Trezise, Brown, Clarke, Smith, even Gibcus could have a run there for his marking ability. Why not? Why are you so against it?
I see your point however grigg wasn’t quick either and he was a good wingman ….. I feel like we’ve recently taken the wing position for granted and would like to see one of our better players like vlaustin be given the chance instead of just a role player like mcintosh ….. you make some good points about other players who could do itHe isn't quick enough for one, and he is so good in his natural position. Vlastuin would be wasted in wing spot, he can impact the game much more as an intercepting defender and that is a way more important role in modern footy. Wingman these days are team first disciplined role players, hold the width, work back to help the defense, bring the ball to ground, etc
Because I doubt he has the tank. Because he is one of the best intercepting defenders in the league. Because we have plenty of young wing options looking for a game. Because he's been tried further up the ground unsuccessfully before. Why not? Why are you so against it?
Who would you play on the wings instead? I feel like we at least need to make some change in the wing role even if it’s not vlaustinWe definitely want to keep Vlastuin in line with the ball as much as possible.
It really depends on Uzis game plan. Dimma loved defensive gut running wingers hence Kmac and Pickett.Who would you play on the wings instead? I feel like we at least need to make some change in the wing role even if it’s not vlaustin

Mansell also showed a little when on the wing at times last yearI think things that can help wingmen are running capacity, speed, a bit of height, being great kick.
It does depend on the game plan. We have played our wingers a bit like traditional half back flankers at times, and our half backs more like wingers to carry the ball from defence to attack. So really players like Houli, Short and Dan Rioli have been performing a lot of the traditional wing function for us.
To answer the question it is not really a matter of who nominally plays wing or half back or whatever, but rather which players stand in line with the ball to intercept or spoil, which players run the ball out of defence and which players deliver the ball into F50. Short and Rioli are high class outside runners and ball users, so you would want to keep them doing that function as a priority. Vlastuin is a high class interceptor, and great distributor, so again you want him playing that type of role.
Banks would surely be earmarked for a wing role in future, classy ball user, good runner. I like Pickett on a wing, has a great all round game for it. McIntosh was a bit down last year but has been very dependable of the course of time. I don't have any rabbit out of hat suggestions for the wing. Jud Clarke is another who may be of interest there depending on our game plan.
You make some good points …. I’m someone who likes to think outside the box a bit so maybe I’m overarchingI think things that can help wingmen are running capacity, speed, a bit of height, being great kick.
