I wonder what this means for Myles Krakouer? Surely we won't use a 2nd round pick on him! Maybe we are going to try our luck on him for our 4th or 5th pick in the ND, or else wait til 2005 draft.

That's pretty impressive! So many games in so few years. Hope Jesse isn't burnt out trying to emulate his father;)

I thought exactly the same thing!:)

Would have been much nicer for the club if Myles had sat out another year and we could have got him father/son for a third round pick next year

From what people have said about him, he's shown some promise, but not enough to be worth a 2nd round pick.

My heart says that we should take the risk and take him with the father/son pick, but my head screams "ability first, bloodlines second", and on that basis, we should keep our pick for trading or to draft someone else. If Myles is still around by the time we get our 4th or 5th round pick, then take him.

It's probably a bit early, but I'd like to congratulate Jesse Smith and Ross Smith on Jesse's upcoming drafting to the Roos.
Not only is it nice to see North finally benefiting under the father son rule, it's great to see the son of one of the guys I grew up idolising join the club.
My memories of Ross Smith are of a honest, courageous and ever reliable defender. He was a stalwart of the team during lean years of the late 80s and early 90s and I think he laid a strong foundation for our succesful team of the mid - late 90s.
It fair broke my heart not to see the guy get a seniors premiership medalion.
If his son is half as much value to the club as his father was, we'll have done well.
Good luck Jesse.

Welcome inakaguy.

I echo those sentiments wholeheartedly. Ross Smith was a champion and a favourite and it's great that he is the older link in the club's first father/son draftee. Here's hoping it doesn't turn out like the Dugdales and the Dwyers in the 80s...

Never seen him play but i am excited about him joining the roos :D

Everything i have heard/ read about him has all been positive. The so called experts like Kevin Sheehan etc talk about his marking, courage, pace and evasiveness, foot skills, vision and smarts. He apparently has it all!!

From what they describe he sounds like a complete player.

At the very least sounds like we have the new James Hird on our hands ;)

I hope so for his sake. Getting big wraps before he's done anything. North tend to bring their young guns along slowly, so I'm not expecting too much next year.

Inakaguy, are you a country boy? (inaka = countryside in Japanese)

Yes Dingster, I'm originally from country South Australia but now I live in country Japan. We'll have to get together and start a Japanese chapter of the Roos fanclub.

Move to Osaka and you can play for the Roos....the mighty Kansai Kangaroos.
Welcome aboard mate.

I have seen Jesse play 3 times this year, and has been really impressive. Think that he is a steal for you blokes and you will enjoy watching him in future years.

Just a question. Ross has two other sons. By memory they would be around 14 and 16 years of age. Can they play footy? Anybody heard/seen anything?

why did you have to remind me of that legacy, and posters on here think shannon wayy is bad.

im sure jesse is going to fit in quite well, his dad a champion.

How good is he actually, i saw that mark in the Under 18s Carnival along with a nice goal he kicked on the run from 50! but will he be good enough to get a game this year, does he have the potential to be a top line player for us?

My Predictions....

1)200 game payer
2)Will be VC
3)The next James Clement off the HBF....Sometimes coming up on a wing
4)Top 10 BF next year.....mark my words!
