Callum Mills

Callum Mills is one of the best young players in the AFL. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2016 AFL Rising Star award and was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in three of his four eligible years. Mills is a small defender with uncompromising courage who’s also capable of shifting through the midfield. The New South Welshman was elevated to Sydney’s leadership group during the 2018 pre-season at the age of just 21, and he’s now a member of a five-man leadership panel alongside co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Lance Franklin.

Callum Mills
DOB: 02 April 1997
DEBUT: 2016
DRAFT: #3, 2015 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: North Shore (NSW)

My Heeney obsessed daughter wanted to watch the last quarter again to get pumped up before her netball game. So being a good father, I obliged.

What struck me re-watching it again was how good Mills was in defence that last quarter. He was brave in the air and hard at it when the ball hit the ground. I know he had the AA year as a mid but I think we really need him in defence this year. With him playing the medium lock down role and Melican to come back, things look a bit more solid.

Mills flying for marks in the final quarter was really good to see. If he does get more responsibility in defence in the following weeks to keep building his match fitness, I hope there is a lot more flying for marks compared to smoothering.

I hope she has been able to obtain a autograph or a photo together!

I think second half yesterday was first signs of Callum Mills finding some form. I’d play him off the half back line next couple of weeks.

It was a response to someone putting Mills in the same sentence as JPK. I'm saying he he doesn't belong in any conversation ralting to JPK.

I agree , but Kennedy was a legend.

But Mills could be a better captain .

I agree comparing gold to titanium is an unfair match up.

I can't say JPK was the perfect captain, you'd have to be part of the inner sactum to have a glimpse, but in terms of leading from the front, and performing on any occasion, JPK has been just about flawless.

JPK came into the side from day 1 and was played exactly in the position he was recruited for the rest was history.

He started at the Hawks though

and think he did do a little half back IIRC

No disputing that from me, one of our best ever IMO

Remember the famous quote from Colless at the 2012 Skilton.

Thankgod Hawthorn had no idea where to play him

They got 3 flags I guess ,

But I dunno, he was better than all of them imo .
