I know a lot of people are disappointed in the output of our 3 tall forwards, and in the case of McDonald & Amartey it's probably just a matter of being patient as they're both still very early in their development as players (albeit at different ages). And FWIW my favourite of those plays is the McLean tackle. Yes he gets a lot of help from McInerney to land the final blow, but he reaches an arm out and manages to grab the opponent's jumper. It's an act of desperation that he somehow manages to make look casual, and I feel like that sums him up as a player and why I like him so much.
He is our current Troy Grey.I know a lot of people are disappointed in the output of our 3 tall forwards, and in the case of McDonald & Amartey it's probably just a matter of being patient as they're both still very early in their development as players (albeit at different ages).
McLean however I don't think has much growth left as the other 2, but I'm okay with that. He'll never be the main forward target or star player IMO but we don't need him to be. Efforts like the above show why's valued. He's a competitor who gets the best from himself and that's enough IMO.
People who are “disappointed” in the output of our three talls just don’t grasp (or refuse to acknowledge) that our game plan is working a treat right now, and a Swans tall forward kicking bags of goals each week is simply not a part of our current (and demonstrably highly successful) game plan.I know a lot of people are disappointed in the output of our 3 tall forwards, and in the case of McDonald & Amartey it's probably just a matter of being patient as they're both still very early in their development as players (albeit at different ages).

Totally this. It's almost like our three talls are semi decoys making it extremely difficult to defendPeople who are “disappointed” in the output of our three talls just don’t grasp (or refuse to acknowledge) that our game plan is working a treat right now, and a Swans tall forward kicking bags of goals each week is simply not a part of our current (and demonstrably highly successful) game plan.
Having so much tall timber definitely helps makes defenders accountable instead of zoning off and intercepting.Totally this. It's almost like our three talls are semi decoys making it extremely difficult to defend
I suspect that’s exactly the plan.Totally this. It's almost like our three talls are semi decoys making it extremely difficult to defend
We have scored more goals than anyone else in the league this year, it's definitely workingI suspect that’s exactly the plan.
And anyway, viewed purely arithmetically, surely we can all agree that if most weeks, one or two of our talls are kicking one or two goals…
and one or two goals are being kicked most weeks by Warner or Heeney or Hayward or Papley or Gulden…
and occasional singles are being kicked by Blakey or Jordon or Adams or Lloyd or Florent or Cunningham…
and we’re cracking the ton most weeks…
and at the midpoint of the season we’re a game and a half clear on top of the ladder…
Then SOMETHING about our game plan is actually working quite well.
I suspect that’s exactly the plan.

Oh and I overlooked Wicks, who has been good for a goal a game.I suspect that’s exactly the plan.

Yes I forgot to mention a percentage with daylight between us and the next team.We have scored more goals than anyone else in the league this year, it's definitely working
Exactly. Get rid of the whole team because no one is kicking a bag.Yes I forgot to mention a percentage with daylight between us and the next team.
But yeah, let’s trade McDonald/Amartey/McLean coz they don’t kick as many goals as Fev.
I'd completely forgotten about him. He was a tough MFHe is our current Troy Grey.
