I'm not a Dmac fan or a club defender, but he was the best of the available (poor) choices. In a week or 2 I'll be filthy if he's still in the team

Well....if all we have is "poor choices"...we wont get anywhere NEAR the 8 this year.

Cover in case one of our inside mids can't play - CEY is good as an extractor but we have enough of those in the team. Plus as I mentioned his defensive action is lacking, which is one of the reasons the others should be in the team and not him

No, Gooch is underdone due to an interrupted preseason. He'll be in the 22 in a week or 2.

At least Gallucci played the under 23 game....I would have preferred him than MacKay even with only 1 preseason game but since Jones is playing his first game, I see why they went the conservative route.

I said current available. We do have better options but they are not fit / ready: Seed, Brown, Gooch all would play back pocket / wing ahead of DMac if they were fit. Round 2 probably 1 or 2 will be, if they are fit and Dmac still plays I'll be just as filthy as you.

Last i checked Hawthorne were not the quickest side in the league....at least CEY can stick a tackle. Having said that....you've picked the most fringe player to defend Dmacks selection. Id play a half fit Gooch or Greenwood over Dmack every day of the week.....its not like Dmack has even played JTL ????

Yeah he's building up his fitness, not far off. Think he is/was in the SANFL trial too.

CEY was mentioned by someone else as a player that should be in the team instead. I was just explaining why I thought that was a bad idea. Same with the other options that were mentioned. You seem to think I am a Dmac fanboy, I am most definitely not. People in bay 137 would attest to this.

But he’s not good, so in that instance you play a younger player, you don’t give a guy a game because he’s played 200 games. That is short sighted.

I would have moved Gibbs or Knight to the wing and brought in CEY or NED depending on which option we went for.

Yeah but defenders generally don't get Brownlow votes. Run and carry players usually do, wingers, players breaking lines and taking shots at goal or shooting off worm burners to team mates in the forward 50, then there is David Mackay.

DMac won’t ever win you a game off his own boot. However, he isn’t really the type that regularly makes monumental errors (usually leading to direct goals).

I know that’s a low bar to set. I’m just saying he comes in and does his usual average/mediocre job but at least he doesn’t do anything that makes you tear your hair out (at least not regularly).
