I clearly stated that Nick Smith is a good player, just pointed out that he's played 200 games without Brownlow votes.Nick Smith is an All Australian though. He's achieved way more than Mackay

Would this be a fair statement:
DMac won’t ever win you a game off his own boot. However, he isn’t really the type that regularly makes monumental errors (usually leading to direct goals).
I know that’s a low bar to set. I’m just saying he comes in and does his usual average/mediocre job but at least he doesn’t do anything that makes you tear your hair out (at least not regularly).

But I’m right you’ve confirmed it “injuries hit watch him sneak in”
We’ve always said he’s got games due to injuries and lack of depth, once again injuries hit and he gets a game.
Maybe we will win a flag one day.
“Injuries hit - watch him sneak in”Hard to play the game of AFL football if you can't get on the park.
A best 22 player that was dropped during the year, was he dropped after one poor game?We were the best team in the AFL in 2017. Had every chance to win a flag against Richmond. He was a best 22 player in the best team in the AFL that year, and that was only 18 months ago.
Are you blaming the fact we lost the 2017 Grand Final on David Mackay?
A best 22 player that was dropped during the year, was he dropped after one poor game?
You didn’t answer my question, was he dropped after one poor game?Played 22 of a possible 25 games (including all finals). But yeah he wasn't a best 22 player in the year we made the grand final.
I really don't understand all of this "we haven't won a flag because Mackay is best 22" business.
We shat the bed in 2017. If our stars played to their usual level - we win. Plain and simple.
“Injuries hit - watch him sneak in”
Because you don’t understand our position at all, we’ve said Mackay is the luckiest most average 200 game player ever because he’s benefited from injuries to players who he would compete with. He’s also benefited from a lack of depth in his position.Absolutely. I
I am not sure why your a quoting how correct I was in my prediction. And how I have been correct the past 8 years we have been going back and forth on Mackay.....
6 different AFL coaches. 2 of which were good enough to get us to a preliminary final have thought he was best 22. 1 coach who got us to a grand final thought he was best 22.
You really struggle to see the bigger picture.
You didn’t answer my question, was he dropped after one poor game?
Here is another one for you, can you name any other senior players dropped that year?
Because you don’t understand our position at all, we’ve said Mackay is the luckiest most average 200 game player ever because he’s benefited from injuries to players who he would compete with. He’s also benefited from a lack of depth in his position.
We agree he’s sneaked in due to injuries. You agree he’s sneaked in due to injuries and yet somehow you claim to be right and we are wrong.
You are even posting in a thread which predicted it as soon as Seeds went down.

Should give you some understanding into Mackay being dropped that year.
Yeah - Josh Jenkins. Same round. Is Josh Jenkins not best 22? Was he not best 22 in 2017.
My oh my. You need to learn to dig up.
That’s just a stupid comparison and you know it.Oh lord you crack me up. Because I said he would sneak in because of injuries this year - it doesn't change how wrong you have been for the past 8. Continually you have said he isn't best 22. Now you are changing it to - he is best 22 only because we dont have better options. No shit. Same logic applies to Rory Sloane. He wouldn't be best 22 if we had 22 players better than him.
Paywalled. Summary please
Yes Josh was shit for a while and deserved to be dropped. He wasn’t dropped after one poor game.
Was he poor at the contest in just one game?Toughness at the contest. Thats why he was dropped. Improved that (have a look at his tackle count) and won back his spot.
That’s just a stupid comparison and you know it.
Tell me why is it this year you claim he will sneak in because of injuries? Could it be because Smith, Seeds, Milera and Atkins were all fit and they are ahead of Mackay?
Where was Smith in 18?
Seeds in 17?
Was he poor at the contest in just one game?
My point? He was poor for a number of games before being dropped. You don’t drop a senior player after one poor game. Not sure. Whats the point? He had a form dip. He got dropped. He came back and kept his place in the side. As he has done for over 200 games and 6 head coaches.
2. A lot of mention Mackay’s 200 gamer status, as if it was a joke. I personally think he’s been a workhorse champ, and thank him for being a 200 gamer on the cheap side, to allow us to keep other 200 gamers on the more expensive side. It’s not economically feasible to keep all 200+ gamers on $750,000 paychecks!
