About 1/3 of the way in. "Just hack it forward".

looks like Tim is following instructions to the letter :$

Interestingly currently we have 3 of the top 6 and 4 of the top 20 players in the league for kicks off the ground. It is very clearly a directive from the coaching group to keep the ball moving at every opportunity so the knocks on his kicking efficiency can be partly blamed on gameplan. Not entirely but party, without question.

Not a bad question really.

Has Tim's game gone to another level since Hopper went out?
Really hard to say
Yes he has improved since hopper went down but Cotch also started playing a lot more mid time so probably a like for like

Now with Cotch seemingly in great form adding Hopper to the mix might mean a little bit more forward time for Bolton, Taranto and Dusty with Taranto probably playing the most mid mins out of that group

I think Hopper being out and Taranto in that time assimilating perfectly with Richmond's game style should only assist Hopper to do the same when he returns. He will have been able to understand perfectly how Taranto has done that as their AFL backgrounds are near identical.

It will be interesting to see how Hopper is assimilated back into the midfield, but I could see Cotchin and Prestia being rested at times during the home and away season. I think it is a much better problem to have 4 of these players available for 3 roles than to have 2 or less of them available for 3 roles.

We have another Dynamic duo on top of Dusty and Bolton. Taranto and Hopper had 52 disposals between them and 15 tackles v Eagles.

This article is about Taranto

Tenacious Tiger leading the way as League's best two-way midfielder

Everyone talking about Baker as the next captain. This guy is still my clear preference.
Oozes leadership.
Another good game, 23pos and what 3 goals? Hopefully Cornes admits how wrong he is. Played well.

Remember cornesy saying granger barras was going to be pick of the draft , donuts today when subbed in the 3rd , he wouldn’t know s**t from clay
Our Dynasty was akin to Colonialism, some of those poor ex Port/Adelaide/Geelong players will be ancestrally damaged for generations.

great goals by TT by the way.
cornes is partly wrong, and partly right.

TT just doesn't make play as much as he should.

Compared to our GF winning teams.
we had....
prime dusty. supreme playmaker.
prime Edwards. game breaker handballs. finds space from impossible angles.
prime meatball. opens up the game.
prime lambert. same.

All creative players.

TT plays like an adult size 13yo who can kick goals and get to contests. HE is consistent which I admire but
he doesn't choose to make space for himself and open up the play in a creative way.

IF we are talking GF chances then we need some creative talent in the midfield, players who can open up space instead of throwing the ball on their foot to srub it out of a pack which is what TT is doing way too often. That is a big problem and no one has picked it up. we are not going anywhere deep with that sort of play.

If I was making a call id be playing TT away from the center and more towards the forward line if anywhere. or get him to work on his game and take it on by moving out of congestion and using the ball like a player of his pay packet should.

He has kicked more goals than any pure mid in the comp.

He is our best and most reliable player.

Least of our worries.

that and getting to contest is the best part of his game

Taranto has been a fantastic get for the RFC
#14 + #21 for a player thats considered top 4/5 in the brownlow in his 1st year at a club thats under performed we could not have asked for more from him

Hopper looks like we have over paid but thats the RFC fault for not finishing higher but it is what it is and we just enjoy the next 6-8 years from these boys to get us through the down times

Every chance that the Hopper deal turns out being about pick 11 + pick 34, once you factor in some likely free agency compensation picks. With picks 49(Kaleb Smith) and 55(Steely Green) coming back our way. In terms of draft points it is the equivalent of us paying about pick 9 for Hopper.

The actual pick 9's this century:

Hopper is way more valuable than: Pettifer, Molan, McIntosh, Trotter, Russell, Clark, A Moore, Tomlinson, Weideman, Brodie.

He would likely be less valuable than: Darcy Moore, Naughton.

And would have vaguely similar value at this stage to: Armitage, McEvoy, Ziebell, Prestia, Vlastuin, Salem, Perkins, Gibcus, Ginbey, Henry, Jones.

So I doubt we have overpaid for Hopper if that ends up being the value of the trade. Especially not when you consider he fills an area of desperate need. He is a really tidy player in his role. Ok he isn't like your all things to everyone gun explosive midfielder, but those cost pick 1+ and about 40% more salary than what Hopper is getting.

I dont even count the pick #34 as part of the trade as we got similar picks back and its a nothing range pick

Basically its 2023 1st rounder for Hopper who by this years performance is valued at around pick #15-#20
so yes we have over payed but have got a player that is a known quality rather than an unknown kid that may or may not play 100 games at that range

But we have enough kids on the list in 2024 and a mature Hopper will give us more going foward so its the right choice

I suspect our first rounder in 2023 is shaping to land at about pick 11 if you worked it out the way you have. Hopper to me is definitely worth pick 11 to us. This is the history of pick 11 this century:

So you have maybe a 15% chance to get a player clearly above Hopper in value. Lynch, Toby Greene for sure and possibly Sidebottom and Higgins would probably be about it. There is at least a 50% chance of getting a player clearly below Hopper's value.

Looking for negatives in tt season is sadistic

He has been our best player by a mile

So good in fact that he is worth what we paid for him and hopper on his own

Strapped the team on his back all year abd the best two way runner I have ever seen in tiger colors

A genuine star, players like him are very rare

Blessed
