No chance for a game this year.

Campbell, Whyman, Thomas, Harding all competing for the same spot.

Doesn't look to have the class IMO. But is a goer so that's in his favour. Have only had a few watches of him though to be fair.

From what I,ve seen thats not his problem, he has quite good skills, loves a goal and got a bit of cheek about him, will be a player of the future.
Unfortunally he has missed his turn to get through the revolving door which is known as our small forward position this year.

With Benny class and flair is alive and well but I feel the club just want to give him a pre season under his belt and it didnt help when he got injuried during the year.

Yes GR was infatic about Ben wearing the Blue and White this season :D

I disagree as well KC, but I am taking into account that he was yet another underage draftee. Like Riggio he has a year up his sleeve and probably needs another preseason before gaining his opportunity to shine.

:D

He wasn't infantic about it by any chance?

Are you apart of the Volvo forums where every typo is analysed :D

Put it this way, GR was very vocal about the topic of Ben Ross.
I wasn't correcting your typo. I was making a pun. I don't care for Volvo's nor GR's opinion of Ross.

I cannot be more emphatic about that point.

Was looking over our list the other day and Ben Ross got me thinking. in the ABC games of Tassie that i saw him play in, i was really impressed. Unfortunately injuries curtailed him a little, but i thought he had a lot of upside.

How do others think he will go in '08? Will he push for a few league games this year? Will be interested to see how his pre-season goes.

I like him, I think he has got what we need, some flair and seems to have good enough foot skills. Didnt like the fact they played him across HBF, would rather him on a HFF and given a licence to thrill.

definately a natural forward, maybe some mid time with better endurance. Can only think playing him back was for his football education. As you said he has some flair, I hope he knocks up some pre-season cup games.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. What the **** is this?

Off season discussion of one of our young recruits?

What the **** is this board coming to?

I'm really quite excited by this kid. He seems to be a bit of a smartarse that I like a small nippy rover. Hopefully he can force his way in for four or five games.

I'm hoping he'll become a small midfielder.

He seems to have pace, flair and skill. Just needs added endurance, confidence and the chance to erase the memory of a largely wasted year in '07.

As a minimum he should become a consistently good player at VFL level.

I share your thoughts there. I would see him in a rotation with a thomas or campbell and really give some flair to the game plan.

Re: 37. Ben Ross

*2008*

Impressing the coaches with his pre-season so far along with Hansen. I expect him to get at least one senior game this year regardless of the intese competition for the small forward role this year between Harding, Thomas, Cambell, McMahon and Ross.

One of the fastest on the squad, he has a certain x-factor about him in the regard that he often does the unexpected and exciting. With a stronger body and bigger tank will challenge for a senior spot counting on decent form in the 2's which should improve considering he has left the talent drainer known as The Tassie Devils.
AND he's lost the Dale Thomas look.

Re: 37. Ben Ross

Lot of Buzz around my boy Ross. Shagga, Simmo, Dish and JYD have all named him first when talking about players impressing this preseason. Should look to break in as either a Goalsneak or on the wing this year.
