Doubt it. Johnstone's a donut. Ed would probably deck him at training and that'd be the end of it.

We don't want any 29 year old fairies.

Johnstone has just turned 27.

He is a very damaging footballer when on - and type wise would fit very well.

So how often does he do "on"?

Not enough over his career, but he has been good the last two seasons prior to this one (had a bit of a Wells like injury hit year this year, although his last game against Carlton was pretty awesome).

And he has played in a soft midfield pretty much his whole career

Footskills are unbelieveable and with Simmo, Swallow, Harris and Lower getting the ball to Wells, Johnstone, Smith and Boomer - we could cut teams apart.

Will always be a pretty big risk, but probably has 5 years left in him.
I would look at it very closely.

Likewise i rate his ability. Johnson injured and out of form with a trans stuck down his shorts listening to the 4th from Caulfield and a form guide in his hand is still a better player than Leigh Brown. I'd swap the two in a heart beat.

Johnstone is a good player....Id definately have him at North

Terrible bloke. Tried to punch on with Col Sylivia at a club function late in the year. Sylvia you can understand being a dingbat cos he's still a kid but surely Johnno should be better than that at his age!

Not a North Melbourne person.

I'd like to see Johnstone in our midfield too,but they would have to weigh up his footskills against getting someone younger with a bit more pace in a trade. We did look a bit one paced at times this year especially with Wells injured.

That seals it. I'd throw in a pick aswell. I bet you Col saw Trav's long hair and tried to kick him, too.

Anything you can expand on here NB?
im pretty sure Sylvia was charged with a domestic dispute recently (last 2 years). This is probably what NB was referring to.

he is 27 and he can kick, something most of our midfield cant do.

Current midfield there's a few who can't kick. But some of last years draftees were picked up on their abilities by hand and foot, and we're not going to win the flag next year which would be the only reason I'd look at a Travis Johnstone. On top of that, a complete spud of a person.

i still believe he has something to offer to the club. Although he is going to have to pull a massive pre season out of the hat and work on some extensive fitness inhancements.

big bodied blokes like him dont fall from trees just needs to take another step. or else he's gone.
We can leave him up forward, so that Edwards can use him as a ladder for MOTY :D

I know he's not the most consistent guy in the world but I rate Brown and would be happy to have him at the Blues , I think he'd be a solid CHB or third tall for us, if only for a few years until we develop our young prospects.

Besides the year at Full Back, he's never been given a run in one position and has been used to fill gaps at the 'roos.

It's a similar sort of deal to Makepeace. Sure Makepeace only played back pocket, but at one point he was the best back pocket in the league. Some players are specialists and some are utilities, don't just put all your pegs in the same sort of holes.

That contract wouldn't be acceptable though, much too high.

I think we just found the bloke who did Carlton's drafting and trading during the late 90s and early 00s.
