Another who we overpaid for and offered way too much $ and contract length.
The problem of being at the bottom is to get players outside the draft to come, it’s what you have to do

Agreed….and sometimes it’s what’s the best available……and lets face it….we ain’t an attractive prospect…yet…..but l just dont want to see from them smiles, handshakes, hugs ect after a loss…..TVs are likely to have something thrown at them….

Nothing angers fans more than after a loss like that, all smiles…
Nothing soothes the soul after a loss like that than a high profile dropping…
But Fisher isn’t the one

Agreed.
Agree…but my fondness of Jameson and it becoming a sponsor of my footy season is more likely
Absolutely.
Words of wisdom as always…..as we wonder these forsaken barren plains…..either that or someone’s playing a rather sick and twisted joke on us all…
Cheers mate..appreciated.

I still believe

But damn if days like today don’t test my patience and faith, think there is still more pain to come, but there is enough green shoots to keep my hope

Will look better in a better side. Is playing in a defensive half that is a cluster * and having to do heavy lifting when he is more the icing than the cake.
Feel like this has been trotted out for a few years regarding steveo. I don't like the icing on the cake thing. If you're good enough to be considered icing you should be able to play football at a more than passable level.

The problem is, is we have a couple that are that
We need the guys performing week in week out

Unlike Stevo, Fisher is getting the pill, but looks up and there is nothing to go to or getting sold into trouble.

He just looks like a bloke that will be better when players up the ground can work into space or other defenders don’t sell him into trouble or give it when he isn’t in position.

That’s totally fair and I agree. Sorry I just see “icing” and get a little triggered. There’s a few words and phrases round here that are really starting to piss me off lol

All I meant was he isn’t going to be the bloke that pulls us out of the shit, but will be better at his role as the team sorts out the current cluster**** that is the back half.

It’s the same as McKercher. Playing in the shitshow that is our back half is doing him no favours at all.

Being a small club, we have to over pay otherwise we wouldn't get anyone being in our current state. Phil Davis was discussing this on a podcast recently. We don't have that competitivr advantage bigger clubs do. Not until we become a finals side anyway.

Thank God they appear to have moved him forward where he can benefit the team

Its a no brainer to switch him forward.

We don't have any other competent small forwards in our best 23, and we've already got a quarter of the squad rotating through half back flank.

Imagine Sellers crashing packs with the Slippery Fish darting around at his feet. Our forward line dynamic would be completely different.

Believe me I get it.

But if we need to overpay that much for other clubs fringe players (Tucker, CCJ, Stephens, Stephenson, Fisher, Hall, Polec ect) then I'd prefer that we just go to the draft or pick mature state league players. Having plodders on 3/4 year deals is not the way forward unless those players are genuinely good in their position or they provide outstanding leadership. (Greenwood/Shiels).

Agree. Our recruitment via trades just haven't worked. Hall was the best and even he was pretty shit.

It takes a bit coming from playing in a reasonable team to a crap regular Botton 2 side .

By all means be critical of whether a player is contributing enough on field.

But not sure why anyone around here is particularly worried about us overpaying traded-in players, when we’d be otherwise finding very “creative” ways just to meet the minimum salary cap expenditure.

Spoiler alert: we’d be paying our own c-grade players far more money than they’re worth on the open market.
