So I'm tipping Jaeger will get done for this one....

He was in the marking contest, instead of having his arms up to mark he braced for impact and knocked Alex Witherden into next week. He essentially "chose" to bump and therefore should be subject to the same criteria that Logue is.

He should get done but similar to the logue incident I don’t think he should. Witherden has run in there like a dickhead imo. “Oh but the courage” ****ing spare me you w***ers that was just stupid imo.

Ah well

It ought to be Witherden who is reported. He charged in front on to the man attempting the mark. The fact he came off second best is his own bad luck. He initiated the collision.

New rules are to be announced later today

  1. Ruckman to stand in the centre and compliment each other, the umpire then deems who's nicest and he's allowed to contest the ruck hit out unopposed. The opposing ruck may decide to clap and encourage his opponent to curry favour for the next centre bounce.
  2. Once the ball is hit towards the ground the opposing midfielders can attend the contest if, they have looked left, then right and left again. Then proceed into the action with care, if they find themselves in a situation where there are players to their right and they need to turn left into the slip lane they must give way. Blind turns are now banned as they can cause serious injury
  3. Marking contest, if the ball is kicked towards two standing opponents they must wait, make eye contact, proceed and can floor it, once the winner is in front the opposing player is not to tailgate after the event

Dan Richardson from the Umpires association has been replaced by Yusuf Bilal formerly of Vic Roads

Main concern for me is that they seem to be discouraging bracing for impact when it's unavoidable. Surely blokes going in head first is going to lead to even more head knocks.

I don't like it either but unfortunately they've been told what's expected. I can't be the only person that saw it in real time and uttered "that's a week".
Must admit that I thought that too on initial viewing, but that live footage was where Logue has his back to the camera and he comes from off the screen - it looked like he pretty much just lined Day up. But when we saw the reverse angle, you could see more lead in time and that Logue was clearly contesting the ball, only turning and bracing at the last moment.

Yep, it looks clean cut on the TV footage and the narrative over the weekend was Logue didn't even make an attempt at the ball which isn't necessarily so. You could also argue Logue braced in a way to reduce the impact on Day which can't be proven but can perhaps be supported by Day not giving it a second thought. Angles are everything and from the ground it wasn't enough for a free kick, will be an interesting one. Depends on if there is any leeway from the tribunal on something they are hardcore on currently.

Let's get serious. Please send me the $10k that I can hold in trust for the club. If we win I will return it, if we lose I will forward to the club on your behalf. Come on Ligs - cough up!

NO

Bit of the Nic Naitanuis about this one. Literally all the evidence was in his favour but you could just tell the tribunal was going to suspend him anyway. We're challenging it, as we should, but I'm not getting my hopes up

Good common sense will prevail and we all move on.
Cannot be found guilty of that, just can't happen.

I saw last night that it was graded as medium impact and high contact, so I gather there is low , med and high. Makes no sense at all. As he wasn't hurt, which is kind of like getting sent to court for not punching someone in a street fight, fight.

It cannot be medium impact if he is ok to continue.

High- I assume he's knocked into the carpark

Med- a tad shaken but ok, a bit of a bloody nose but all good.

Low- running through the banner before the games started and getting caught on some tape.

"If successful, Logue will be free to face Carlton in the Good Friday SuperClash."

If unsuccessful, what's the outcome? It's still just the week? Or they pile on more for wasting their time?
I think if we are unsuccessful. I think it may be an extra week added .
When is the appeals hearing being held ?
