Pav made some silly skill errors today. Missed some passes that would have been scoring opportunities.

I thought hill played pretty strong. Dominated three or four key one on one contests, including a couple against Jetta where completely out played him. He should have kicked at least two but didn't even take a shot.

Barlow looked very sore and preppy at times. Mayne missing from 35 out straight in front... We have some concerns but we have another break. I'm not confident that we can win the GF... :(

Do you think the week off for half your team had an impact? Had the Swans kicked straight you guys would be buying tickets to another home final next week. I honestly thought the Dockers would crack Sydney stupid.

Enough with these 'what if's', Sydney didn't kick straight. If they had, they may have won, but they didn't.
Bad kicking is bad football and a win is a win regardless of the amount, especially in finals.

Also... How many times do all our players have to go up for the sake ball?! Stupid stupid play. Three or four of ours up against one or two of theirs and they have two standing for the crumb and off they go. That's simple footy really.

True...honestly the game says a lot more about your clubs premiership chances than ours......

Ease up, Pavlich wasn't one of our worst players but he wasn't great either. Dropping a lot of marks he shouldn't and doesn't appear to be moving at 100%.

Happy to be corrected but I don't remember him dropping any uncontested marks. Ted Richards and Grundy go alright as spoiling defenders btw. He never got a huge amount of space on his markers but I don't remember either of them being able to drop off and mark on him. He made every high ball a contest, even when frequently outnumbered and he presented all day up the field and helped Ballantyne, Walters and Mayne get out the back.

It was the quintessential modern CHF game that he can't play each week now because of his achilles but he played superbly. He was easily one of our best players.

We had a 3 goal lead that would have been 4 if Sandi wasn't robbed a mark. That would have sealed it. Sydney fought on, but **** me, they were given a ride to keep things close.

Our backline was leaky all day, Macca a massive loss, Johnno out of touch and should have, in my opinion played last week. Tab out / no second forward was in hindsight a bad idea, but Pav good at bringing ball to ground to Ballas and Walters. Bit pissed off with Hill, had at least two opportunities to stretch the lead if he backed himself, but opted to center the ball and turn it over.

Strange game and always is with Sydney despite either side missing personnel. The same game plan and style lends itself to what we just witnessed. A Grind. We did not play well but we played well enough on the defensive side of the ball. It was a nervous although upbeat performance by Fremantle and I expect with a trip to the GF on the line our form will 'awaken' in 2 weeks time.

He miss kicked into the forward fifty three or four times. Two would have been definite goals. He wasn't bad today but he definitely wasn't superb. He butchered the ball passing into fifty too much for that. He is a legend. Played his role, made a contest. But as an attacking player missed a sitter and cost us at least three others with poor execution.

Congrats on the win guys. Serious question about Barlow - is he carrying an injury or just really slow? Goodes ran away from him in the last.

I don't why we aren't playing him in his best role as extractor. He was fantastic last week vs Port in a losing team, don't think it's injury. Mick has always been a bit slow, but he gets to where he needs to be because he's a footballer rather than an athlete.

I think it was our midfield/wing pressure that was the let down, we allowed Sydney to take marks and move it up the wings too easily. On top of that we send too many players to the contested ball, Sydney knew this and capitalized all day on it.

True but the whole team has been doing that consistently since round 10. Pavlich played a superb LONE hand up forward and kept the ball in play whereas mortals would have crumbled.

Wow a few here wanting Crowley back? Freo have played their best ever and most positive footy without him, tagging is old school and a waste of a player why go back there. Bulldogs have dropped the hard tags and look at their improvement. You bring in Crowley and you lose the game imo. Congrats today just some poor kicking but conditions made for an ugly game. :rainbow:

Three others? Give me a break. He's kicking to Hayden Ballantyne or Michael Walters over 30-40m. It needs to be put out in space because they aren't contested mark players. It's not Pav's fault we went in without a second tall forward and Clarke did his Harold Holt impression today.

Our output this year is no better without Crowley. We have players in this side that he could replace, that is an indictment on our list not an endorsement of Crowley.

We're supposed to have good structures, but our players just get sucked into a contest without thinking. It's frustrating. Hate to compare us with the Eagles, but they currently play to their system enter and because they have a potent forward line, they score better. It's the way we were playing in 2013 and late 2014. I think the whole play-on at all costs is not suiting our players, as they all tend to make stupid decisions compared to when we were playing the strangle.

Plus I think that the pressure of expectation is getting to the big time. They need to work hard but also be given perspective. They're just so scared of "letting the team down" that they let the team down by not putting themselves on the line and taking risks.

Also, I think that the poor umpiring is taking a toll. 35 free kicks, 21 to 14 in a final is atrocious. Would be fine if adjudicated equally, but it can get in your head if you're always half worried you'll be giving away a free.
