And yet they've made the WTC final at Lords that most of the country will be tuning in to...It's still popular in SA & NZ (albeit with smaller grounds)SA pulled there best players from a test series to play T20
Nice try though.
It's dead. It loses money in every country except the big 3.

If we go to 4 day tests and keep to 450 overs thatās 112 overs a day. The way most sides go with over rates itāll never finish.Yeah an of course it would be absolutely impossible to have good 4 days tests
It's a lame argument
4-day tests are largely a push by the media to reduce their own risk.
Marnus would be a certainty, wouldn't he?
You wouldn't do 112 but you could do four days of 100 overs. That's only 50 over less over the course of the Test.If we go to 4 day tests and keep to 450 overs thatās 112 overs a day. The way most sides go with over rates itāll never finish.
And the bowlers will be rooted.
If it happens itāll end up going the way of stubbies, used to be 375 ml, now a lot are 330ml. Youāll end up getting short changed.
I'd like that top 3, if Konstas is looking good in the conditions, but you'd still have Marnus at 4 or 5. He's made a couple of centuries in SL and young enough that he'll still be there for the India tour.depends if they wanna get funky - you'd think he plays
but there was also talk of head, konstas and usman at 3

We arenāt not playing Marnus heās one of the few that can play the long game in these conditions
That's how I see it - with lots of potential combinations - all a bit interconnected - to fill those 4 spots.ok so thats 7 certainties to start then.
2 batting spots and 2 bowling spots up for grabs.
NZ have won the WTC recently too, Windies beat us at the Gabba recently. 5 day tests are the healthiest they have been for years.

and that's where it gets tricky as boland and webster were our best 2, in the last test match.
Langer out, Bevan inI'm old enough to remember when the test team went straight into ODIs. I think we'll diverge that way in tests too, with a team for SENA and one for Asia - with some multi continent players and some specialising. Someone like Kuhneman may end up having a good test career for Australia without ever making a test squad in Australia.
Geoff Marsh scoring 30 of 65 balls.Langer out, Bevan in
Otherwise unchanged!
So, short changed then. You wouldn't do 112 but you could do four days of 100 overs. That's only 50 over less over the course of the Test.

Marshes vs ClokesGeoff Marsh scoring 30 of 65 balls.
I've spent 35 years complaining about a Marsh and the selectors.

Marsh. I loved Trav - obviously had his flaws - but just clunked it.Marshes vs Clokes
