In the first few years yes however the last few years he has constantly scored runs when we need it.

You type of opinion displays you have no memory and latch onto whatever the bogan next to you is thinking.

No it displays the collective opinion of every concerned Australian cricket fan you deadshit. Just because I have nothing to do sitting in front of the cricket on my day off, Clarke averages 57 when Australia win, and 47 when they lose. Ponting: 60 when we win, 58 when we lose.

Border, Taylor, Waugh, Ponting, Clarke.... Spot the odd one out. Should never be captain.

Usman Khawaja,

Pack your bags. You're going to Adelaide.

Replacing who - North or Clarke?

Usman and Ferguson will both get a game in Adelaide.

North - you've played your final test buddy. No idea what you were thinking when you said you couldn't understand why you were under so much pressure.

Clarke - if you're injured, stand down and allow the selectors to pick a fully fit player. That's the problem with this team at the minute, the players have too much power. The selectors need to grow a pair and start ruling the roost again.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

the time for change was at the end of the home summer. we had six tests to blood someone in for the ashes... no we are backed into a corner with too many underperforming players and no players with any real international experience to take their spots...

Let's be honest, the only way they would change this team is if we lose this series, as Damian Fleming said, the selectors missed a golden opportunity to blood some younger players last summer against the Windies and Pakistan, it was all too late as far as they're concerned

I wouldn't exactly call 47 a bad average.

So everyone should be as good as Ponting? Average of 47 in a losing side is still quite good.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

Think this shows how Johnson having no effect with the ball is hurting us. England have pretty much kept the pressure on all day. Where as Johnson released the pressure and basically gifted England 66 runs.

He needs to show big improvement in the Second innings (making a good score with the bat would help too).

Imo Johnson is poo, had 1 good year. Not dependable enough. Bollinger for him anyday or Johnson plays as a geniune allrounder and is our 5th bowler but his batting isn't good enough.

I find it doubly amazing that the young boys from NSW and SA have a bad game for Aust A and they become incompetant to replace North.

Our issue is Clarke, Hussey, North they are just too inconsistent these days. Not all have to go but something has to change.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

I don't know why everyone is calling for North to be dropped. He scored a ton last innings in India didnt he?

(sarcasm helps lessen the anger)

You watch, North will come out and hit 150 in the second innings and save himself for the Adelaide test where he will once again fail.

Damn, Huss is looking in good touch.:thumbsu:

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

My "Haddin scoring 25 odd runs quicksmart, leading Slater to go on about what a brilliant counterattack it is, only for Haddin to f*** up and get out to a dumb shot" sense is tingling.

Yes, I've seemingly decided this is my thing for the summer.

Hussey to go on and make 50+. Bookmark it

If Smith has a good game for NSW this week it wouldn't surprise me to see him brought in. Provides another spin option that they might want at Adelaide.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

Who are you and what have you done with Mike Hussey
More like "WHERE THE **** HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS".

This is the real Mike Hussey, he may just have a few great innings left in him, right when Australia needed him too.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

Mitch to make up for his poor showing with the ball and will come out bat like he did against the Vics last week.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

Been a great session from the Pom's :D.

Time to get Anderson back into the attack, Finn seems to be losing his line now anyway.

Another wicket or two and we are right on top.

Re: 1st Vodafone Ashes Test: Australia v England @ GABBA (Thur-Mon) [After tea Day 1 -?]

given North's form, why isn't half the Sheffield Shield batting field in contention?

Good point, get Cosgrove in there. If we are gonna have a useless spud playing we might as well make it a fat, enjoyable spud.
