What a bunch of gutless pricks at Collingwood. Left it up to his manager to tell him he was up for trade and nobody spoke to him until HE called bucks.

Jaidyn Stephenson has spoken to SEN radio in the wake of his trade to North Melbourne.

He said he had called Pies coach Nathan Buckley after his manager had told him he might be up for trade, but was not given "clear reasoning".

"It was probably a week or a couple of days before the trade period started. My manager came to me and said 'look, you might be up for trade, mate'. It was sort of a bit of a shock to start with, but as the time's gone on I've sort of come to terms with it and now I feel like I've made the right decision," Stephenson said.

"I said the whole time I wanted to stay ... but it's not always to be.

"My manager sort of came to me, and then I heard nothing from the club. I gave 'Bucks' a call myself to see what was going on and he just pretty much said 'mate, look for a trade as aggressively as you want and we'll try facilitate it'. There wasn't a very clear reasoning or anything but like I said I think it's all worked out for the best.

"He said he doesn't know if I've allowed myself to open up to the group, which I don't necessarily agree with, but if that's how he saw it, he's the coach and that's his [prerogative]."
 
Geez... Barrett is such a negative nancy. Trying to push JS for a negative statement about everything thats gone on.

JS counters by saying how excited he is to go to North, describes our young players as great and then reels off a heap of names to prove it wasn't just lip service and he knew the group.
 
Absolutely wrapped with this! If he can recapture his form from 2 years ago & build on it, he could be anything!
I remember Shifter Sheehan saying he would have taken him pick 1 in that draft.
The Brown deal sucked, but we made up with this one!

As a Collingwood supporter this really pisses me off... I really liked him and to have him done this way...

I hope he brings you a coleman, a brownlow, and a couple of flags, and that Collingwood upper management gets sent far away.

"There was a few clubs interested, but only one who I went through the process with. I was stubborn initially and was just going to stay at collingwood, I told my manager I had 3 yrs left on my contract and wanted to stay there."
