He never developed his body, strength, idk whether he really improved other indicators either

He obviously wasn't the best trainer either, I never saw him actually want or take the next step

Next time we recruit anyone we need to make sure they dont have this attitude. Similar to Chad Wingard. He admitted he never really cared about footy.

Who cares if we pay him out, its our fault for giving him a big contract (knowing the above) and in 2025 and going forward, we don't want players like that at our club anymore.
Trainor ffs

Seen alot of N.M. players over the journey. Be close to, if not the least disinterested to pull on the jumper and make very little effort.
Hard to think of any others, even recently Polec l suppose.
Ripped us a new one - take the money and run.

If we don't negotiate a payout, he hangs around the place, spends the year in the VFL, while going through the motions.

There's no winners in that scenario.

We only have to negotiate a payout the cost of a rookie less than what he was contracted and we break even.

Polec always had the odd tendency to go missing even at port. But his best was very good. Injuries didnt help either.

Yeh, he can. He can front up to training every session, he can run around in the scoobs, he can be dropped from the scoobs, he can shape up or quit. Thats it. And if he fails to hold up his end of his agreement, we can terminate his contract and not pay him. You realise we are broke?
Okay, so he gets 12 months of ritual humiliation. But how is this supposed to make us more competitive?

Eastern suburbs boy - Ferntree Gully - so will probably bob up in the EFNL. Ferntree Gully are Division 3 battlers and he'd probably want to play Premier. Kayne Turner and Josh Walker are at Balwyn who have a ton of money. Their coach, Brenton Sanderson, was also at Collingwood when Sleevo was there.
Doubt he ends up at FTG. Most of his ex-junior teammates from there all play at Mitcham.

Article on the Herald Sun this morning basically confirms North pushed this, for those wondering why there is a payout.

"North Melbourne forward Jaidyn Stephenson says he has lost passion for the game as he steps away from football with one year remaining on his contract.
The 25-year-old said he was ready to explore post-AFL life after booting 130 goals in 122 games for Collingwood and the Kangaroos.

He had a contract for 2025, but Stephenson agreed with North Melbourne to step away after struggling through 12 senior games this season, which included only two after the mid-season bye."
