Draft Review 2008 - Re-do the 2008 draft

Shuey is too high. Missed most of seasons 2009 and 2010 due to injury.

Shuey would be almost number 1 on output so far. his 2011 was better than any season that any other player from this draft has had.

What, like Zaharakis last year when he averaged more disposals and goals and won his teams b and f?
FWIW I'd only have Zaka just ahead on output.

With all these threads I thought I would start one for 2008
Couldnt find another one so sorry if there is already one.
For me

This is only MY opinion

1 Nic Nat
2 Hurley
3 Sidebottom
4 Zaharakis
5 Shuey
6 Beams
7 Sloane
8 Redden
9 Hartlett
10 Ziebell

I will probably cop a bit a flack for having Zaka high but I think he is quite underrated coming of a B&F season and doesnt get much media attention along with Redden.

Shiels, Yarran and Trengove on the cusp.

hurley has done nothing compaired to sidebottom i would not have him in the top 10 as of yet , and how is yarran not in there?

If Shuey was playing for Essendon he would have won their b&f last year.

But yeah, I realise you barrack for Essendon.

Output isnt everything, if it were on output Redden would be top 3...

That is one of the dumbest posts on BF ever. If a player is not judged on output, what are they judged on? ****y hairdos?

Yours is pretty stupid actually, considering these guys are just in their 4th year there isnt any reason why you shouldnt include potential in the process.

He'd be up there in the Sloane, Shiels and Redden category.

Seriously strong draft.

Hartlett was an oversight on my part, although he probably isn't QUITE in the top 10 based on output yet... he's certainly in the group - including Watts, Vickery, Davis, Hill, Rich and Yarran - who will be seriously pushing when they click.

The true absurdity of this thread is the rationale applied to Hurley that is not extended to Natanui. Natanui is comfortably the most overhyped player in the entire competition, much less this draft. His single claim to fame is that he can jump.

A bloke with far more credentials then you begs to differ...

St Kilda coach Scott Watters rates Nic Naitanui as West Coast's most important AFL player, and wants young Saints ruckman Rhys Stanley to learn from the freakish Eagle when the pair lock horns on Sunday.

...

"I think Naitanui is their most important player, bar none," Watters said on Saturday.

"I had the pleasure of coaching against Nic from WAFL level right the way through.

"He's a freak."

Needs more Hannebery, another 35 disposals yesterday.

Precisely I did this the other day, and had hanners at 4-7 I think.

Hartlett must be in the top 10, if you are looking on current -> future form, with some level of consistency.

Zaharakis can't be ahead of Rory Sloan, maybe Zara got an early start, but Rory is ahead now.

This is an interesting draft, because the guys that bolted early are being caught up by a lot of guys who have seen big improvements this year.

I'd like to revisit this draft at the end of the season, because I think its the right year to review the season, after 4 seasons. While Yarran, and Hurley had great seasons in the past, I think its important to look at current form instead of an overall form. Its not what you have done, its what you can do.

Don't discount Matty Broadbent either, They were saying on the tv during the game, that every game Port has won this year, he has been the standout player, and thats the last 3 games, with his last 3 SC scores of 114, 153 and 126, so he's definitely on the rise.

Id have Hill as no 1 and by a fair space so far.
- and he still has the most upside, scary!

Hartlett is starting to show why he was picked high,
but on output thus far - Id have Rich ahead of him.

Sidebottom is bridging the gap on everyone,
he is nearly in AA form, kids a ripper and a top 5 for this draft.

Nick Nat could still go either way, we all knew he was a freak,
its just whether his actually football skills ever progress is still a question.

Rockcliff would be top 10, kids a ball magnet.

Watts hasnt done a thing thus far and wouldnt be in the 25 on output.

Hurley has done ok so far, but looks fumbly and limited this year.

1. Sidebottom
2. Sloane
3. Beams
4. Zaharakis
5. Redden
6. Robinson
7. Naitanui
8. Hurley
9. Hartlett
10. Rich

Ziebell is overrated, Trengove has gone downhill this year but I am sure he will improve.

Sidebottom and Beams have been playing like A graders this year, Sloane will be the second in line for captaincy after Dangerfield. Nic Nat has gone missing for over 2 quarters so many times it isn't funny. Hurley hasn't reached his potential yet.

Do you realise that Zaharakis was the B and F in 2011 - And his form in 2012 is at the least the same level.

Where did sloan finish in Adelaide's 2011 B and F.

What?!

Why?

He has it all, he is a great kick, breaks the lines - has ALOT of pace.
Great all round skills and massive upside.

A lot of those who have done better than Hill have been entitled to,
due to their mature bodies, I think the upside of Hill - thrown in with glimpses
of what Ive seen so far, have him no 1 for me.

Not sure how people can have Sloane in the top 10 on the back of a few
games - considering Rockcliff has been dominating the past couple of seasons!

Sidebottom would have to be the most complete footballer - along with
Dustin Martin, that we have seen in a long while.

I think Hill has a lot to work on, he probably has as much to work on as Watts - who you claim has shown nothing.

And Hill really hasn't improved that much as a player in his first four seasons - in terms of overall season performance - either despite his increase in size and aerobic capacity.

Has a lot of talent, no doubt - but there are areas that need a lot of improvement.

No love for Chris Yarran?

You think Hartlett's output has been better than Yarran's so far?!

Fair bit of Essendon bias happening there :)

How the hell do you have Hartlett so high if its on season performance o_O
Hartlett played 4 games in 2010 yet you ranked him 8th for season performance
Then in 2011 I'm not even sure how you could possibly make a case for him having a better season than Zaharakis.

What does a draft which didn't see players emerge until 2009 have to do with any semblance of credibility only 3 years later anyway?

It's intellectual rubbish. It doesn't mean anything.

Yeah - just noticed a few things wrong. Removed the garbage.
