Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

3 Swans, Goodes, Jolly and O'Keefel. I wouldn't have Bolton in the second AA team. Very lucky to make the main side.
O'Keffel played good games but was too inconsistent.

Clarke is ahead of Jolley for 2nd ruck.

Goodes yes. That is all.

BTW I think our only player in should be Johncock. But he didn't make the 40...lol Bock not enough games. Goody, nope. Porps maybe. Vince, good job to get the 40, next year 22 ;)

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

No, I mean if they did a second AA team. Runners up team. Clark is definitely the 2nd best ruckman this year.
Yep. Would have thought he'd get a gig due to the structuring of a side but I guess they rated the 4 interchanger's ahead of him. That said; he had a better year then Goodwin, Bolton and probably Davis.

He'd be my second ruck with either Jolly or HMac after him.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

i was pretty surprised goodwin and bolton made it in the backline.

for goddard not to be on the HB flank was interesting to say the least.

i've watched quite a bit of footy this year and i thought whilst bolton was good, he wasnt all australian worthy. im not quite sure what made his year better than glass/tarrant.

i thought ryan hargrave deserved a spot over simon goodwin also.

oh well, thats the way it goes...

p.s. leca/porps were robbed

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

Glass won the B & F but I don't think he was that good this year. You could easily argue Tarrant ahead of Bolton. Fisher is another. Injury and a right hook cost Bock his spot.

How many WCE games did you watch ?

After being injured last year, Glass has had a superb season.

He commanded an almost depleted defence (-) Hunter, BJones, Stenglein, Selwood (moved into midfield). Yet I can safely say that our defence was one of our strongest points.

I think Glass is near his best again, and last time he was at his best, it warranted an All-Australian selection.

Not as many as you did so I wouldn't worry about my opinion on WC but I would say Bolton and Tarrant were better. Glass had conceded a fair few goals this season. Wasn't he last on that reverse Coleman statistic half way through the year?

Surprised so many are pissed off Davis made it. Overall I thought he deserved his spot.

If Davis was a better forward pocket than Le Cras this year I'll eat my own ****!

I could have accepted Porplyzia, but fork me, Davis??

Happy to be labelled biased on this, but it's a firkin disgrace

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

If you can't put your hate to one side don't comment.

Maxwell deserves his position.

players from all teams bagged out Joel bowden, and then gave it to hodge last year.

If you don't have an opponent - it's easy to look good on the half back line.

give me someone who is a great one-on-one defender, or someone who has a devastating kick, not someone who is good at being 3rd man up.

in saying that, goodwin was just as much a surpise on a back flank

I'd take j Brown in a pocket over le cras.

but not davis, not in 2009

...and then promptly play him at CHF :)

I think it's a bit silly taking umbrage at Davis in the FP given the rest of the team; and note I said he was very lucky to get a spot. But when Swan was named on the HFF and Selwood on the wing, it's obvious the selectors weren't being too picky about positions.

Fwiw, Leon has spent roughly zero minutes in the FP, so you're quite right that Lecras has been better in that capacity ;)

Glass had a terrific season - but wasn't AA quality.

he was as good this year as he was in our grand final years, the difference being the quantity and quality of the ball going into our defence is much higher now than what it was 3 years ago - so therefore he gets more goals kicked on him

however - you are judged on results - and his don't stack up this year against the others

Hurrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

Pretty disappointing team in my opinion. No Clark is crazy and at least one of Le Cras and Porplyzia should be in. Davis was a surprise. I know he had a good year but I didn't even realise he was in the squad. Considering all the shit Maxwell copped about being the new captain he did have a fair year, but not AA quality. Craig Bolton was a bit odd to me too, although you couldn't put Maxwell there as he doesn't play on anyone and Goddard isn't a CHB. Goodwin should definitely be out, Goddard to a hb flank and Clark on the bench.

Re: 2009 All-Australian Team (Part 2)

DISCRACEFUL!!!!!!!!!!1

HB LINE The worst ever
No LeCras or Porplyzia
No second ruckman
No St Kilda players in the back 6

Big footy should nominate 10 members to select thier own AA team with in depth explainations and post it to the AFL as that team is terrible
